Soft Shackle Recovery Adapter (SSRA) by Brennan's Garage. I dropped my own hard earned coin for this.
Want a closed recovery point on the rear of your Gladiator? Easiest way is stuff a soft shackle in the hitch and pin it.

Check out this little gizmo.

It increases the pin from a 5/8 radius to 1 inch, that's better for the shackle and it helps distribute the load better so you are less likely to bend the pin.

You don't want your shackle rubbing on the sharp angle of the hitch edge when pulling at a angle. This has a nice radius on the hitch exit. It's about 1/8 inch proud of the hitch.

I like this, small, light weight. Very nice improvement on the soft shackle on the pin method. The machining on this is outstanding, and made in the USA!

I like this for its size.

I’m sure the probability of failure is low, though i wonder why this company hasn’t had anything certified/stamped. (Not seeing any wll or other indicators on their site.- it is morning, and coffee is kicking in still…..)

I have run one of these for years. (Below)- though I really like the size of what you have posted up!

They are not certified, no rated wll. Basically this is like a sleeve for the hitch, the pin carries everything. The one you have run for years is different in the way that it's between the pin and the shackle. The one you linked in itself carries a load from the shackle to the pin. There is definitely a butt load of stuff available, probably the best bang for the buck and longevity is the standard hitch and 3/4 shackle. It's fun to check out the alternative stuff. I have another closed hitch recovery that is actually rated, it's pretty cool. Maybe I'll post it a little later.

This is heavy, rated, nuclear bomb proof. Saber Off Road from down there. Bought with dead president portraits from my personal small collection.

This is tuff stuff. If you want a closed recovery on the back of your Gladiator and are going to use it often this should be on your short list. Soft Shackle friendly and it will also accept a 3/4 shackle or two.

Mehh I've got a hook on the bed of the truck just like all of us from the factory. If done properly it will never slip off. Pass.

My issue with the factory hooks and soft shackles- the radius it puts on the soft shackle is too acute of an angle, increasing the probability of something snapping.

I'm new to Jeep, but I've always just put the eye of the recovery strap into the receiver and put the pin through the eye. No shackle needed. One less thing to fail.

That does work great for 2 inch straps especially on straight pulls. There is definitely a cornucopia of devices and methods.

More bling for the ultimate mall machine :)
Heck, if that's what you're into then go for it. My Mojave is pretty basic but I have to admit I have seen some mall crawlers that were absolutely stunning. My longest overland so far was 8 weeks, I try not to add unnecessary crap and keep the weight down as much as possible. Pretty basic and simple setup for me. The only exterior bling I have is a aftermarket front bumper, hit a deer and fucked up the plastic factory bumper so I did a upgrade. If it wasn't for the deer I'd still be riding my plastic bumper.

Hope you were able to harvest the deer.

Placing a strap directly on a hitch pin places the energy of the pull on the center of the pin so depending on how good the steel is on the pin you do run the risk of it bending or fracturing in the center of the pin. Then you have fun removing it.

Using an actual proper recovery insert distributes the weight in regards to the pin to the insert similar to a towing hitch inserted.
