Is that Eagle yours?

I think it and that station wagon are by far the coolest rides there 😆

Despite the fact that I own some pretty main stream stuff (my Gladiator, the 2015 Camaro SS, and a 90s Chevy step side) i really love more obscure things.

Yes, that's my SX4 (Eagle)

I figure it also counts as a Jeep since I put a 4.0 in it, it's 4 wheel drive and the drive system uses some of the same FAD parts the jeeps of that era did LOL Gotta work that in on a Jeep forum.

That wagon got my attention to - couldn't believe how nice, clean, perfect it was.

You don't see wagons like that very often at all - let alone in that great condition.
I need to get more pictures of some of the cars these guys have in their shops - not all street rod/hot rod stuff. Amazing what they've done.

I love car shows. Haven’t been in years.
This happened in an interesting way.
The group has grown over the last couple of years, and this guy who hosted it this week has a LOT of space and a HUGE shop (air conditioned, thankfully) so was able to handle a large group.
It was suggested that an updated group photo be done. So we all went out and did a group picture.
Then the host said - why not line up our cars along his driveway and someone get photos of each person by their car, then a panoramic shot of all of the cars lined up.
So it was an impromptu show in a way.
Once we had them all lined up, someone said - "should have done this at the beginning so people driving by could see them all". Too late, the group was starting to break up by then.
The guy has a trophy for his truck that almost didn't sit on the seat in the truck it is so tall, then I was at a show with him the next day and he won another trophy. The guy knows his shit, runs at the salt flats (bikes and cars/trucks), amazing custom work. I should have gotten pics of the bikes in his shop.

Probably once a week I wonder how all these meet-ups and small car shows became a morning / coffee thing, and seemingly overnight. Wasn't long ago they were all evening events, with beer and hot-dogs and rock music. Now it's coffee and it's weird.

This was a special case...........
The whole thing started a few years ago when Iowa GoodGuys member and official, Gene Cross, would have people just stop by and visit - and he had a coffee pot and chairs in his shop. Then it got to be that he'd set a day for people who wanted to stop by to chat or see his projects or swap BS stories - Tuesday AM.
Everyone in the street rod and custom hobby in the area knew of Gene. He was there at each summer's big event, working in some capacity, getting people to work the gate or whatever. You knew Gene if you had a custom in this county and many surrounding counties. His name and cars have been in magazines for years, along with some of the guys he knows.
It grew as he decided to invite people over for coffee at his shop. You just drove whatever you had - your daily driver minivan, a 2010 Ford F150, whatever. As this area has what has been described as the largest concentration of street rods per capita anywhere, it made sense some would drive their rods and customs to his place.
It kept growing - to the point that he got older, and he wasn't able to setup every single week for the thing, provide donuts or whatever, and he asked if others would be interested in hosting (PLEASE!) now and then. So he created a sign-up sheet, and a list of phone numbers. Each weekend, the host would send out texts letting folks know where it was in the coming week.
I'd say most of the time, people just drive whatever, ordinary cars and trucks, nothing fancy or special, especially as here it might rain, or in the winter, the cold and snow.

This wasn't a car show, people were just encouraged to drive what you built for pictures. (some of them are getting so old, it's all they've got these days - memories and such)

He's had some well-known rod and custom people sign this car -

Sounds pretty cool. Kind of reminds me of a well known local in the classic car scene, Dave Rupp, where people would just stop by his warehouse and hang out / BS.

And now - the group itself.......... this was a huge turnout. Usually only 20 or so. I was told the meet at my shop was one of the larger turnouts, but I question that, honestly.
