I’ve been noticing that sometimes when my automatic transmission shifts from 1st to 2nd I hear a sound. It’s like a mechanical squelching sound, which may not be a great description. It happens in both 2hi and 4 low. It doesn’t always happen, either, but maybe I’m not always hearing it. I haven’t noticed any difference in performance or shift time. I haven’t noticed the sound in any of the other gears either. Is this normal or something I should get looked at?

I notice it on my 21 Mojave, and my wife’s 21 jlu does it too. Sometimes it is more noticeable than other times. Sounds kind of like a whining, sucking mechanical sound. I’ll see if I can get a sound clip.

Thank you! From my forum searches I haven't been able to any other posts describing this issue. I thought I was the only one. It's a little difficult for me to get a sound clip, but I do think higher engine speed may trigger it.

2020 and same… sounds like a servo whine. Mine is usually after it’s warmed up and a higher rpm shift. Does it all the time while off-road using manual shifting.

This has come up a few times here and on the JL forum. To the best of my knowledge no one has nailed it down yet.

I was curious if you had any more insight on this noise? Were you able to figure out what was causing it?
