Hi Everyone,

I'll be taking delivery of my first Jeep (Sport S Max Tow) hopefully sometime in the coming weeks. I'm completely new to all of this, so I wanted to check here for advice before I make any purchases.

Ultimately, I want to get a small camper trailer and tow it with my JT, but that will be at least a few years down the line. For now, I'm wanting to do a small spacer lift (~1.5") to level the truck and get new tires, and I was wondering if anyone knows what spacers I would need to level the Max Tow? I know this will affect my tow capacity, that's why I'm thinking spacers make the most sense for the lift so that I can easily remove them down the line if needed.

The tires/wheels I'm looking at are:

- Falken Wildpeaks LT285/75R17E
- Method 316

If anyone has pictures of what I'm looking at I would love to see them!

Thanks in advance.
-Matt

You'll need to take some measurements and decide where you want to be. If you are going to tow or do truck things I like to have at least 1/2" of rake. We tow a small 2k lb off road camper that has approx 200 lbs of tongue and I also added air bags to the springs. The Terraflex kit is nice as you can add 1/2", 1", or the full 1.5" ... if you went the full 1.5 and it was too much you could adjust it down.

I didn't realize you could get a lift kit that can be adjusted. I will want to tow a small camper in a few years, but for now, I'll mainly be doing truck stuff (mostly lumber runs to Menards). I do like the level look, but I could live with a small rake. Is there a go-to Terraflex kit? I'm looking on the Quadratec site now, but the amount of options is a bit overwhelming...

If you are only going to tow on rare occasions, don't worry too much about tire size and lift type, within reason. If you are going to tow often, stock form will always perform better. With bigger tires, re-gearing becomes necessary to maintain the torque and MPG values, and it gets quite expensive.
I plan to pull a small light overland camper with this rig, but only 4 or 5 times a year. 3" lift front, 1-3/4" rear, and 35's. May have to re-gear the 4.10's that the max tow came with to 4.88's.

Thanks for the pic - looks good! I think the biggest tire I'd go with is technically a 34". I figure by the time I'm ready to tow a camper my tires will be nearing the end of life anyway, so I should be able to get in some towing experience to see how it goes and then reduce back to a smaller size if needed.
