Hi everyone - was curious if anyone knew if the spare wheel would work with a 315/70 KO2? I purchased new wheels (Fifteen52) and now that I am thinking about it realize I might be asking for trouble using one of them in the spare slot. I am in Chicago so hopefully this makes sense. Wondering if I should sit on the extra wheel as a backup if any of them get damaged in the future. Thoughts? This is new territory for me so appreciate the help in advance.

As far as I can remember the spare wheel slot will handle up to a 35. Anything beyond that is too big. Like 90% sure.

Oh wait. I've missed understood the question, sorry. The spare wheel won't be ideal for that tire but will certainly do as an emergency means to get somewhere. As far as mounting a new wheel in the spare slot. I'd imagine the assembly would scrape the wheel itself if you're worried about that.

Thank you. Yeah I am looking at this from a perspective of getting out of a pinch. I just didnt know if for example the spare wheel has +44MM offset and is 7.5 can I even put a 35 on the wheel and if so would it be driveable to get to a shop or home. On the scratching you raise a good point, I spent a little time lookin under the bed and it would see the tire would come into contact with the underbed before the wheel, but I'm not 100%.

I have a 315/70/17 BFG KO2 on the stock spare. Fits no problem.

You could do a 35x10.50r17 Kenda Klever if you are concerned about the spare hanging lower with the 315 tire.

Invest in a 5th wheel, that will aid in keeping your tires longer as you can rotate 5. And if you do bust, ding what ever a wheel 4 years from now you have a spare.

I bought a 5th to have 5 matching.

That was my original plan, I have the 5th wheel/rim, but then started thinking about theft here in the city, not sure how hard it would be to steal but I can't imaging that hard. I then started thinking maybe keep the wheel/riim separate as a backup in case any of them got gouged and use the spare rim.

Oh got ya.

Honestly they will probably cut out your cat before a wheel but... You could throw a cable lock on it :)

Yup - I did a 315/70/17 Pathfinder just so the spare would match (closely, at least) the 35s I put on the OEM Overland wheel. Fits fine - recognizing I only would use it as a spare. Talked it through with Discount Tire staff before putting it on.
