Speaker upgrade wiring

Has anybody upgraded their factory alpine system sound bar speakers to 6 1/2 and if so how did you do the wiring...since going from the 2 speakers down to one. Did you wire both factory plugs to one speaker or just use the one or did you go component?

I have the OEM Alpine speaker system and recently upgraded to a component 6.5" set. I used the Metra pod kit from Amazon. The wiring for me was an easy one for one. I did not use the crossovers included in the Infinity speaker kit. There are wiring plug adapters that Metra sells. To be honest, I am not 100% sure my speakers are in phase as the Jeep speaker wiring info seems to be very conflicting (polarity) and I am too lazy to chase down the definitive answer.
The Alpine system is surprisingly good, for OEM. The 6.5" upgrade set is big step up in the volume of sound/music coming from the sound bar (..duhhh). I am very happy with the fairly simple upgrade. I also upgraded the dash speakers to matching Infinity speakers. Very noticeable improvement. I didn't drive the Jeep to work today, otherwise I would share some pics.
