Hi all. After days of searching and learning and reading, i'm throwing in the towel and turning here for some assistance. I've found online tire calculators to give me dimensions and differences regarding wheel offset and how much further out a tire will stick from the existing location, and i've seen dozens and dozens of pics from people here, but not much that i'm specifically looking for.

Quick background, Stock Sport S with max tow (so i have the wider axles-assuming rubicon axles are the same width?) my stock 245/75-17's are almost flush (at sidewall) to edge of the fender flare. That being said, i want to go to 35x12.50-17 BFG KO2. I don't like the look when the tire sticks out really far. My searching has lead me to the assumption that i can get away with a close to stock positive offset(which is +44 to my understanding). That being said, according to the tire calculator, if i go with a +6 offset, the sidewall will stick out 3" from where it currently is. I'd like to see less than that, maybe 1.5 to 2" out from existing location. Easy enough right, or so I thought. I've searched discount tire, tire rack, local tire shops, 4wheel parts, and i'm coming up with some very fugly rims, most of which are negative offset. If i'm limited to finding a positive offset (and still not weigh in over 33lbs per rim like some of the brands i've come across with a +18 for example), trying to limit unsprung weight....so i'm asking for photos specifically of anyone that has that good pic angle showing how far out the tire sticks....and specifically only if you found wheels that kept the tire closer to the edge of the flares.

Long story short, post pics of your wider axles, close to stock, or higher than +6 offset only so i can get a better first hand idea of the look. And as mentioned above, i have searched and read numerous wheel threads with pics, but came up short on my specific request. Thanks for any help.

Wheel width also makes a difference with 7.5 rims at +6 the tire will stick out 1.5" with a 8.5 rim it will be 2" from the fender line. Once you get the tire beyond the fender .5" is almost unnoticeable.

Take a look at some of the Black Rhino wheels that have a +30 offset. For my JL I went with an 18x8 wheel (Barstow) with a +30 offset and my tires barely stick out from under the fender flares. There is a member on here who just posted pictures of their JT with Black Rhino Overlands also with a +30 offset and this will give you an idea of how little his tires stick out. I will try to remember his user name and find pics of his rig.

No pic yet, same situation as you. Have black rhino mozambique wheels 18x8.5, Backspacing is +30, off set is 6.100, weighs 25 pounds. Very plain rim which I like and shouldn't stick out to much.

A consideration in wheels is what do you plan on doing in the future. Most premium lifts RK, MC, EVO ect. require 4.5 of back spacing otherwise spacers would be required.

Thanks for the info everyone! Especially the pics provided for reference! That confirms my question. I found a reasonable looking wheel (ricey looking as it may be...at least it's black so it won't stand out that much-haha), plus i was about to wrap my stock sport rim in a 35 and even thought that didn't look all that bad, so this KM717 appears to be my best bet, and is +18, so I should be very close to the pictures provided above. Eventually I may throw a 1" spacer in the front just to account for the additional tire height. Really don't want to get into geometry issues and all that stuff with the taller 2+ inch lifts. This is more of a pavement/snowy weather daily driver than a trail rig. May so occasional flexing off road maybe 4 or 5 times each year, with some overlanding a bit more often.

Anyone have pics of the KM717 or similar design? Or on a potential doom and gloom note, anyone have any bad news regarding KMC wheels(poor finish, weak structure etc etc)??

Do you have any issues passing inspection in PA with how far out the tires are from the fender?

Only had it inspected once, but no issues at that time. I had them come out and look at it before I left to make sure they were okay with it. If they had a problem with it I would have just thrown the originals on for inspection and then switched them back when I got home! Never been pulled over either.

Thanks for the info! I am new to the Jeep world and how all the tires/wheels and offsets work. I have a max tow sport s ordered and your tires and wheels match up exactly with what I was hoping to do but I was concerned it wouldn't be "legal" in PA. I guess I could always do the same with the stock tires and rims if it were an issue.
