Now now children, calm down before we have to separate you two.Your originated post of $35-40k and your "I'll wait for the scout" comment? The scout will cost more than the recon and nowhere near that $35-40k number. The fact is, this type of vehicle cannot be had in that range period.
My comment is, priced 35-40, it will sell.Your originated post of $35-40k and your "I'll wait for the scout" comment? The scout will cost more than the recon and nowhere near that $35-40k number. The fact is, this type of vehicle cannot be had in that range period.
I rounded down to $30k, but he did in fact say both of those other things. I know inflection doesn't come through in written form, but I'm not grumpy at all. I'm being realistic. The recon, the scout, the rivian, the hummer, all are $60k plus. That's the reality of the cost of that type of vehicle in our post record inflation world. You don't have to like it, you can believe it won't sell, but that's just reality and there are still plenty of people buying $60k+ vehicles. Add in the huge tax credit, which you also don't have to agree with, and it's closer to $50k depending on local incentives. Not that I'm in the market as the 2022 JLUR and the 2023 JTM both have a lot of life left in them, but to me those prices are reasonable when you see people buying 4runners at that price. Now now children, calm down before we have to separate you two.
Zach, J.R. never said that. And J.R., you don't have to play with Zach when he's grumpy.
That's all well and good, but none of that is what he was saying. I hope we're not here just to find ways to argue with people...I rounded down to $30k, but he did in fact say both of those other things. He literally said he'd wait for the scout... which costs at least as much as of now and probably more by the time they actually build it while claiming the recon should be $35k? I'm willing to bet production cost and performance between the 2 comes out real close, but the rebirth of a failed company has 40% more value because "Stellantis is mean"?That's all well and good, but none of that is what he was saying. I hope we're not here just to find ways to argue with people...
I don't know why you're arguing with me. I don't see how "waiting for the Scout" translates into what the Scout should cost. You're connecting dots that aren't there, and in my view it's just to start an argument. He literally said he'd wait for the scout... which costs at least as much as of now and probably more by the time they actually build it while claiming the recon should be $35k? The dots are obvious, off road EVs cost $60k period. Scout, recon doesn't matter. It's implied he's waiting for the scout and he thinks the recon is overpriced...at the same estimated base price? Or he actually said those exact things? As far as arguing with you, you put yourself into the middle and then claimed he didn't say what he in fact did?I don't know why you're arguing with me. Let's let it go at this point. This helps nobody.
That's not implied, I'm flatly stating the Recon is over priced at 60 and the Scout is not.The dots are obvious, off road EVs cost $60k period. Scout, recon doesn't matter. The specs aren't out on either so how can you claim one is overpriced and the other isn't? As I said, I'm willing to bet their performance will be very close. That's a lot of blind faith in a company that failed decades ago, but you do you. That's not implied, I'm flatly stating the Recon is over priced at 60 and the Scout is not.
At no point did I say I wanted an "offroad" EV for half that.
I appreciate the permission!but you do you.
Again, not remotely upset. Just trying to understand the reasoning. You know, discussing things...on a discussion forum... which is the entire point I thought? Being there hasn't been any reasoning, I will just guess you miss your old scout... which will have absolutely nothing in common with the EV rebirth.I appreciate the permission!
I was definitely planning to do that anyway.
My most sincere apologies for having a contrary opinion on how to spend my money though.
Didn't mean to upset you.
Same as I never demanded a Recon at 30k, you never asked why I prefer the Scout at the same price.Again, not remotely upset. Just trying to understand the reasoning. But the specs aren't even out on it yet so how can you claim what it will or won't be?...which will have absolutely nothing in common with the EV rebirth.
