Looking to buy the OEM steel front bumper (part number 82215120AE) for my 2021 Mojave that originally came with the plastic bumper. Do I need to buy the skid plate (part number 82215183AB)? Some websites say I need it, some don't. Any intel here?

I used the original skid when I went to steel bumper, I did have to trim a little on the skid. Fits like a glove.

Ok that’s good to know. Could you elaborate on the trim? What exactly needed it? I’d like to save the 3-400 bucks and not order the other skid plate.

Mount bumper, secured. Attach skid use permanent marker where it needs to be trimmed to fit. Go to harbor freight get cheap angle grinder and cut off wheels and trim to fit. Touch up with silver paint so you don’t have bare metal and you’re done.

there are numerous threads on this topic here on the forum, including ones dedicated to the chinese knockoff version of the bumper and where to find it on ebay (~$450 vs. the $1100 mopar version), which is what i ultimately went with - with pictures on what needs to be trimmed, etc. i ended up cutting about a 1x6" notch into the end of each side of the bumper, not the skid plate. but if you do a search, you can find a lot of info that others have already documented here on the site

Another school of thought is the steel skid for the Mopar winch bumper, the steel bumper skid directly ties the skid to the bumper across the bottom, I would say that is giving much more strength to the bumper instead of using the Mojave skid. That said I have a 21 Mojave with plastic bumper with a winch in it on a plate and it works fine and is very sturdy, so trim the skid is not a bad thing either. ….Jack
