Just a note for those iffy about going through the hassle to get the steering gear work done: Do it!
My ‘20 Sport S Maxtow didn’t steer that great, but wasn’t dangerous or undriveable. Dead spot on center was about 1/2 degree or so - barely perceptible. Steering feel was numb and vaguely wandered around in lanes, but nothing like some have reported.
Upon fix, it’s a whole different truck now! Steering is lighter and more progressive feeling with speed. It tracks perfectly straight on the freeway with little to no correction, even over dips. Totally worth the 3 days they took to get it back together!

Totally agree. It is worth going through the hassle you will probably experience. You will question why you waited to have it done.

i havent rushed to do mine, as mine seems to drive ok....but I will prob bring it up the first time I go for my first JeepWave oil change. I just dread even asking about it.

Same here... I hate talking to the dealerships. Wasn’t too confident in the service dept either after asking for my wheel lock key even though I don’t have wheel locks (“oh, silly us, put the wrong truck in the rack!” Seriously, that happened!) and the fact they had to take it “down the street” to get aligned (steering wheel slightly off-center too). WTF?
Anyway, happy enough with the result I don’t care. Won’t be back there ever again, and the local dealer to me can deal with doing the alignment over again next oil change. Stay away from Santa Monica Jeep.
