No, I bolted them over. They work quite well. I had the drop-down steps before and mangled them on a trail. I returned to the stock rails, and the family hated not having a step. This solution was the happy medium.
I now did the same, and the do work well. You lose some of the pinch weld plates, but I'm not sure they help much either, so thanks.

I have rock slide engineering and love them. With 37's, these are perfect. I purchased the extra armor because our where we go.
Would that be Anza Borrego? That's where I scarred mine...first shake-down trip after the lift.

Great looking JTR! Just pulled the trigger on the RSE and armor. Good news is that they offer a Military/Veteran discount of 10%. ....basically free shipping. :)

What's that on top of the slider? A little brush mat for the feets?

Rock hard patriot sliders on my mojave. Looks good, family enjoys them as a step, hopefully protective if and when I need them.

I’ve had these for years. Slid over rocks, logs and about anything else you can slide over. With a little touch up after rough trips they look good as new and have totally protected the rig. 3M anti skid tape on the step areas is a must as they can get slippery when wet.

Steps that aren’t complete sliders will catch and hang you up, or tear off.

Yes. Glued foot scraper on. On our way to the Artic Ocean, we encountered a lot of mud and the scraper came in handy. On the other step, I made a drop down dog step with a rotopax oil container

What's the container's purpose?

Motor oil. In the past, oil containers leak and make a mess. When the JT is fully loaded, getting oil has always been a chore, not now
Does the JTRD burn oil?
I've only had one diesel in the past and the only vehicle that I've carried spare oil was my 82 Camaro that leaked so much I rarely changed the oil. It changed itself.

I was going to ask the same. I’ve only lost oil in my 3.6 once, and I was at 45 degrees for a bit too long. Only burned 1/2 quart. I’ve never lost any between changes though.
