Just got my "MOPAR" tranmission filter I ordered. Took it out if the Mopar box, with the Mopar part # sticker on it and look at the filter. It says Filtran right on it. I assume the stock one should say Mopar and NOT Filtran, right? Or am I wrong?

I just picked up a 68417054AB filter in a sealed box at my local dealership and it is a Filtran filter. Is it supposed to be something else?

Came from a Mopar part supplier. Ive bought legit Mopar parts from them before like my Mopar 2" coils etc. I can mever post pics on this site from my phone but this is a Mopar box and sticker and the correct part number for my Gladiator BUT the part is Filtran with a part number 'etched' on it showing eitehr 208733, PA66-GF-35 OR 708158. Those are the 3 'etched on the filter along with the Filtran brand. I bive the actual number on her is the PA66-GF-35 v-Pore98.
Am I roght in assuming the Mopar filter will have Mopar 'etched' on it?

You realize that MOPAR doesn't make their own filters, oil, PS fluid or any number of other parts, right? AMC made some of the plastic interior parts for Ford in the 1970s and 80s.
You might find the MOPAR logo - but then, no, if that filter fits other vehicles with the same ZF transmission.

I do get that. I guess my concern is more does Filtran supply the stock trans filter for the dealers/factory then? No point in buying their stock to staybwarranty compliant if they could eventually say nope not our filter no warranty for one reason. Ive never used a filtran filter in my life although I have used many other aftermarlet filters some are definately better than others though and Im sure I could've sourced the Filtran filter locally for half the price roughly if I tried. Funny thing is I was told when I ordered on the 11th or 12th they were back ordered but some were on the way to Canada here amd 2-3 weeks. 7 days later it shipped and its here today. Made me think it was a part store filter shipped out to me. And the pics from Jac04 above are the exact pics I took and couldn't post. Same package date numbers and everything so same batch I suppose

Most likely made by Filtran, a lot of parts are subcontracted out to other companies. Vehicle manufacturer sends out specific requirements for the product, subcontracted company builds it to meet the specs. Axles, tires, rims, a very long list of parts are subcontracted out. On filters look up "Champion Lab" in the past they made almost every oil, fuel filters "Made in the USA" at one or other plant in USA.

Yea I guess in hindsight if I had known I would've wemt to the part store and looked up the filtran part maybe saved a few bucks. If Filtran is the actual dealer supplied part then I guess I paid the premium (although I used the discount site factory option for less) to gain some knowledge for next time round. I maybe should've jusy ordered the ZF part, I duno. The tranmission is one maintenance item its worth paying an extra dollar or two for piece of mind IMO. Ive always used Allison filters on the a Duramax but those can be had for super cheap (like $11 last time I stocked up) from a big truck dealer vs the $80+ from the dealer. Do I know who makes those, no but they are the Allison branded filters and not delco or any other brand and have been tried and true for me anyway

I wouldn't get hung up about it - I'd avoid certain Amazon cheapies, no-name filters and so on, but any tech will recognize that piece.

Have done two transmission fluid and filter changes of separate JT's. In both cases, the stock OEM transmission filter was "FILTRAN" marked. Bought the OEM MOPAR replacement for one and it was marked the same. Used aftermarket for the second one.

I own a longtime transmission rebuilding shop and Filtran is an OEM supplier for filters.

So the oil lasts as long as the clutches do.
