Stoping/Starting in 4WD

Yes ESS works when in 4WD. Bugs the crap out of me. Follow someone and wait it shuts off.... LOL

Original Question -

If you are driving in 4H or 4L while off roading and need to stop and turn off the vehicle, do you need to put it back into 2H?

Thus my response.
If this is about the auto stop/start, then that's a different animal and you'd not want that working while crawling up the face of a cliff or over the edge of a rock - bad news if engine shuts down while negotiating your way out of a tough spot.
But if you gotta stop and shut it off so you can go behind a rock or stand of trees and pee, and get back in and start it again, no need to shift back into 2H to get going.

IMO, stoping works, but YMMV. Problem is that, if you start stoping, and it works, you likely will never stop, in which case you need to turn the transporting vehicle off, whether or not in 4WD.
