I have a cargo trailer that I currently use for most things. I want to do an axle flip to raise it up some. I love this for just going camping and ready to go.
The trailer in the image is sort of the distilled version of a decade's worth of trips. The best advice I could give someone thinking of building something like this is to simply break out the welder and start doing it. You can make a hundred lists of things that you THINK you want/need in an off-road trailer, but the first time you actually use it you'll scrap them all and have entirely different ideas.

Maybe one day I will get around to creating a separate thread for mine. Although, its not like I had cameras rolling for a Youtube video the whole time I was fabricating it, not sure how interesting I could make that thread, lol.

Camping trip depending. My Scamp, 3 weeks ago.
The utility trailer, last weekend with my pond prowler boat on it. (behind it on it's regular trailer)
Option 3 of many times in 3rd photo, cooking and food storage, chair, small table then tent or hammock maybe screen room with awning. Last weekend, first night obvious to it.... the "bartender under diluted the margaritas mix. Everyone was smashed by 3rd one. Next day was "nice n warm weather" and everyone got toasted again but by the sun. And damn I should have taken my Scamp.... no A.C. in RTT, used hammock night #3.
In my Comanche I used Rubbermaid ActionPacker's. They had secondary use of laying out in row sleep on them along with seating and as secondary table beside tailgate. In XJ the small ActionPacker's and rucksack. Wrangler Unlimited had plastic footlocker and rucksack, cooler, tent / hammock or Tent-Cot strapped to spare tire. Scamp in tow or utility trailer and 4 wheeler.
The currently available plastic toolboxes are great compared to the stuff of years ago.

How do you like it?
Well, I went "Full-time" in it Dec 2010 until I built my "cabin" 2 years ago. For solo person it's good "IMHO" I ordered the 16ft Scamp Deluxe #5 layout. Actually the Deluxe is lighter in weight than basic fiberglass models. I've lived under spartan conditions most of my life. It's was a change from having a house, garage and 12x24 shop. Room enough to stand up walk some, other bed, bathroom and kitchen with table n seating. A big push was I wasn't locked in with a mortgaged house, so when or if I got fed up with B.S. I could always say F### it I'm out of here. Leaving my employment, I got asked "what are you going to do now" my answer was well I guess I'm not getting my jacuzzi this year. So it's a freedom thing of sorts. ;)
Sorry for the long winded answer ranting. Of changes for it, if / when the AC fails it's not being replaced with a rooftop unit, I'll install a 12v Max-Air fan or similar and install a off the store shelf AC or compact mini-split unit. The stock propane heater was good while it worked but a power hog and noisy. It requires a regular washing and waxing. The sap n crap from certain trees will trash the fiberglass top coating in hot S.E. sun. It had a few problems when built, I didn't catch at first. The older generation plywood isn't sealed just a base coat of latex paint. So water damage will happen (did in mine from condensation) from extremely wet years. The two tables were made from chip wood and swollen up from moisture. But cost vs my use it was a great deal I believe. I'd recommend Scamp and other fiberglass T.T. to many. If it gets proper upkeep and repairs one will last many times over the "stick built" T.T.

I stuff cloths i am not wearing into the tail pipe for storage. I also store my propane tanks under the hood, since there are some perfect spots under there for them to fit.
Obviously, that's why they engineered these with a suitcase muffler.

We're looking at a fiberglass camper, thank you for your review.

I did a 2-week trip in the JT earlier this year. After trip I added a rear MOLLE panel (JCR) above rear seat area and use a bungee net to hang my duffle bag, I only need to get it down once a day so no big problem. Having it up and off the rear seat delete saves a lot of room.
Someone on this forum suggested these storage bins and I use them. It is like they were designed for the JT, They are water and dust proof and have clear tops so you can see contents.

A few pics. It is dark here so the dome light messes with interior pics.

Downsize what you carry, similar to backpacking.
Most of my gear is my backpacking gear. It has been a lifetime event with backpacking. Being a minimalist is easy. I do enjoy sitting in a real chair as of lately, sitting on my tripod or on the groung is still and option but why? I don’t bring a full kitchen with me, I still use my backpacking gear. I'm slowly bringing more amenities with me, but I dislike the clean up and restowing the gear. There's a trade off somewhere and everyone's different. You just have to figure out what you want. Everyone's setup is different.

Softopper and rack are so worth it. If it had gas struts that opened the back window I’d never consider a hard cap. Make it useful, uncovered truck beds look useless to me, other than being a “hey can you help me move X” magnet. But you do you.
