I'm about as analog as a person can get......and a new JT owner. I previously owned a 09 JK, when I take her out and camp, I'd leave her 4 when I parked for the night. With all this new tech, is it safe to do so with the JT? Simple person terms approved and appreciated....pic for attention

Are you asking if you can leave the transfer case in 4wd when parked? If so, yes, but why?
Agreed.
They can leave the transfer case in any mode (except neutral, I suspect, it it could roll) but why leave it in 4? Unless it took 4wd to get to the camp and takes 4wd to get back out again.

Needed 4x4 to get back out is why. I just wanted to make sure with all this tech and computers I wouldn't have an issue

2H, 4H, 4L, you can leave it in any of those and not have any trouble leaving it sit for hours or weeks.

There are no stupid questions when it comes to Jeeps, and any decent human and fellow Jeeper would never harass you for asking.
Leaving it in 4wd will not harm anything. Sharp turns on hard packed surfaces can.

This was a question I don't think anyone has ever asked before. At least now it's on record here so if anyone else wonders, maybe they can search and see the responses.

I was asking why, because it started me thinking through scenarios. I was just curious...
My guess, and it's simply a guess - you are a very curious person, dig into things, and pick up quickly.
Plus - sometimes wondering WHY a person is asking the question they asked can lead to a better response.
Spock said something like - “It is difficult to answer, when one does not understand the question.”

Leaving it in 4wd in park or in gear (MT) would technically mean all 4 wheels are locked from moving vs 2 in park or with the parking brake engaged making it slightly less able to move and safer on a very steep hill.
This is my go to move for doing work under the Jeep. Plus wheel chocks it's not going to move on you.

Especially in 4L as the wheels would have a big disadvantage against the engine for turning it.

It's akin to putting a manual transmission in 1st vs. high gear. If the vehicle were to roll, it would have to spin the engine more and faster in 1st vs. high gear.
A Jeep in low or first gear, transfer case in 4L, ain't going anywhere and if you put on the parking brake and chocks, it would take an act of congress to move it.
