Super excited to say that after watching a ton of amazing reviews on YouTube for them, I purchased a @Bestop Sunrider last week (and went ahead and paid for installation as i dont trust myself haha)...I received it Monday night and they install it tomorrow...the weird part though is that Bestek who is the vendor for Bestop installations only has ONE installer in all of Texas it seems! He lives in Dallas so he is having to drive all the way to Houston where I live just to install it! doh! I don't think my installation fee will even pay for his gas! ?
But anyway, he sounded super friendly and not bothered by that fact, so tomorrow by end of day i will be a proud @Bestop Sunrider owner!
From every single person I have heard from or seen online, it is worth the price...and hey if you can get it used then more power to you!

He said they are "take offs" from some dealer package that comes with both tops. He says that they won't show a new Jeep with a soft top on it. I am betting if you look, you will find a listing for one now in Glendale, AZ.

He's probably just knicking the sunriders that come with High Tides

How much are you paying for installation? Because other than some fidgety z clips, it's one of the easier installs you could probably do.

Any idea what those have spent one used twill units?

Easy

You can remove the doors - there is a frame rail that sits on top of and bolts through the roll bar - 2 bolts each side. Because of those 4 bolts through the roll bar, you could remove the bracket with 2 bolts at the rear that unite the sunrider to the hard top and the remove the hard top, leaving the sunrider in place. My sunrider stays on Late March through October/November. No regrets on that purchase. No leaks either - even through automatic high pressure car washes. -Unless you have the hard top removed of course!-?

Just do it. A sunrider is probably my #2 favorite purchase for my gladiator (behind only doorless mirrors) and I've spent a lot of money on this thing so it's not exactly #2 out of a small list.

Freedom panels are nice enough, but there's a lot of hemming and hawing about whether it's worth the effort to take them off each time. Clouds look dark? Better not. Sun is beating down like crazy and don't want to park the jeep with the seats getting superheated? Better not. Driving to work and don't want to be "that guy" doing your whole freedom top dance in the work parking lot? Better not.

A sunrider solves all of these scenarios, AND MORE!

With you on this. I quickly tired of jumping out to stash the freedom panels in the back.

Considering a sunrider from Bestop and have a few questions and looking for opinions from those with them.

Does this make it a pain to go fully topless? I assume you'd have to take it off first then the rear roof, which sounds like a pain.

Can you still go without doors (I assume yes)?


I just got a cab cover off amazon planning for spring summer. I had planned on going topless/doorless for longer periods and covering it at night. Am I better served this route?

There is another option for about the same or less than the Sunrider. You could get the Rugged Ridge Voyager soft top. Discussion thread here:

Long story short, the front folds back like a Sunrider and secures in place above the soundbar.
The added bonus is that you can remove the rear window and fold the rear portion forward so the top is folded up and above the soundbar to the point it’s almost completely topless.

Nice, ten minutes isn't bad. I think i was about 20 minutes all in stripping it down the 2 times last summer (never really timed it).

And it doesnt look too goofy with just the sunrider left in place.

I’ve had my sunrider for just over a year now and have no regrets. Took me all of about 15 minutes to get it installed myself and have had zero issues. Prior to that I think I only removed the front panels maybe 3-4 times, but with the sunrider it’s been opened probably 1,000 times in very different situations. The best part is if it randomly starts raining you can pull it back into place in 5 seconds without getting soaked.

Pulled the trigger and picked up a basically new Twill unit for $400.

To make the deal better, the person had a brand new in box set of besttop rear rock rails they threw in for free!
