2020 Gladiator: The left rear tail light doesn't work but brake light does. Right rear all good. Any suggestions?

Regular bulb. Figured out it is a bad bulb by switching right and left bulbs. Don’t really understand why it could be the bulb if it works for one function but not the other. Now I’m not sure what bulb to get. I’ve looked up 7443, but I got that and a) it doesn’t physically fit, and b) the original bad bulb has one more filament wire in the center than the 7443 does. I’ve also seen 7443R. Not sure what the significance of the “R” is. The guy at O’Reilly’s said it meant LED. Sorry for the delayed response: I got distracted by another task. Any advice on bulb type?

Bulbs have two filaments. If only one fails, only one function will stop working. Quite common occurrence.

As for the bulb, a 7443 will work, but also a 3157.

The, "R," suffix means it's a Red bulb, not LED.

FYI, note to this thread the "3157" bulbs. I had the bulb burned out situation that bulb didn't fit. 7443 is the correct one. Hopefully it will save someone the problem and they get right one first time. I'll add a picture from owners manual of this page for reference "note" it's wrong I don't want anyone else to be trying to fix burned out bulb in f###ing freezing rain. Especially on a 20 some hour day.

I clipped the picture to highlight incorrect bulb info, backup light is correct.
