Tailgate not locking...Any suggestions

So my tailgate isn't locking, I can hear the locking motor kick in and try and latch but it never actually locks the tailgate. I've even tried to lock it with the key and it turns but doesn't lock the tailgate.

Any suggestions or anyone have any similar issues?

Sounds like the linkage inside the tailgate may have come loose.

Wondering if I can just fix it instead of bringing it into the dealership

Open up the tailgate and look. It could be simply a clip that came apart.
