I have. I installed the Harbor Freight steps. I redrilled the mount and bought longer screws so I could reuse the factory holes in the tailgate. I made up spacers to go under the mount so the plate wouldn't flex when screwed in. I found that I did not need more than 2 bolts. The mount is solid and it's not going anywhere if you set the ladder up correctly. I strap the ladder to the side of the bed and pull it out when I need to get up in the bed. It works well. I did have it attached but with the way we use the bed, it sometimes got in the way of stuff in the back which is why I keep it detached.

I do not have one like that - I bought the AMP Research Step (stock photo below - not my rig)
I love mine I also wanted to save the tale gate space to put a box/storage update.

Ouch. $329 for the Amp step.

I love the idea, can't get past the cost. I'm into the HF ladder for $50 including the hardware I got from Lowes to use the factory holes.

For $68, I installed these from M.O.R.E Offroad.
They just bolt up to the rubi rail.
I looked at all the others and nothing would work for what we use them for.

LOL - had this since maybe 2020, it's in my second JT now. Started in my 2020, now in my 2022.

And after surgery and getting older and being told now my heart has a problem, this thing is even MORE valuable to me.

Problem with bumper steps is - it's still just one step instead of incremental smaller steps.
I need a couple shorter steps instead of just one big one up to the bumper or tailgate.

Like @ShadowsPapa , I need the intermediate steps due to double knee replacement surgery. The Amp step might provide me the lower step point that I need but the ladder style definitely provides me with what I need.
