I’ve never had any communications issues with the extention cable……
I’ve only had the Tazer for about 9 months and have had it out a couple times.

Did you get the one from Z Automotive or did you get a generic one from Amazon or somewhere else?

I have short stubby fingers from my youth milking cows, I found it wasn't too hard using a mechanics pick, one with a 90* end, it helped out greatly! I still don't think anyone has fully answered it the cable extensions are causing the glitches people are reporting, that I'd really like to know!
So the weather is finally warmer so I took the Harley out for a ride and while out I stopped and grabbed a small set of mechanics picks. Never know when I might need them and for the price why not have them on hand just in case. Appreciate the tip.

You're the second one to tell me they got it from Z Automotive. It's almost 3 times as much as some I've seen but sometimes you get what you pay for. Appreciate your input.

So I stumbled across this post as I have been researching the Tazer Mini and possibly using an extension cable since the location is a pita to access. Based on your post, I understand how the tazer connects with and without the extension. Do you have a tazer and if so do you use an extension? If I decide to purchase a tazer, I would like to use the extension to make removing and adding the tazer easier. I understand that the red cable posted earlier is the wrong cable for the tazer but I'm wondering if the correct cable will cause any connection issues.
I have a Tazer, I don't have an extension. I am 6'2" with average size hands for a man my size. I was easily able to reach up, disconnect the sgw and connect the Tazer without injury or swear words. Fact it, once you install it, there is limited reason to remove it. The only time I can think of needing to remove would be for updated and if you're taking it to the dealer for warranty work. And if you're taking it in for warranty work, you're probably also disconnecting the extension as to remove any "evidence of tampering".

Appreciate your input. Already got it and have it installed. Took me a bit to get the SGW out but managed. Wasn't too hard to reach with my large hands but getting it to turn loose wasn't easy as it was in there really tight. Went ahead and got the extension. I have not installed that as it took a couple of days to be delivered and I wasn't patient enough to wait before installing the tazer. I may or may not install it at this point. Love the tazer and the changes it allows.

Here is what I did on my 2024 JTR X package:https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/extension-cable-for-tazer-needed.138946/post-2900946

In the 2024+ with the premium sound system, they added/changed the location/or size of the aluminum bar up there that makes access up there a real PITA (red arrow). Earlier model years are much easier (though still a PITA) to get to those SGW connections.(green arrow) Blue arrow is not the SGW connector (I think it is for the premium sound system amp)

SUGGESTION: wear mechanix wear 0.5mm gloves or something similar when doing this.

Cool. I have removed mine once after turning traction control off and not being able to turn it back on. Doing this allowed me to reengage TC and reinstall the tazer. I should state I have only had mine installed about 2 months. I love it as well!
