“On June 27th I experienced an abnormal rattling sound and then loss of all power as I was driving home on the freeway from a birthday dinner. I had my 21 JTDR towed to the Walnut Creek Jeep Dodge Ram service department. As it was an overnight drop off, the service department couldn’t start testing until today. I was offered a rental but declined due to the over abundance of vehicles in my driveway. I will pick up my rental tomorrow morning as the Service Adviser(Charles; he’s excellent) informed me that their diesel tech confirmed that the HPFP has left the chat. I will head into the dealership tomorrow and talk about next steps.

I don’t want a buyback. I want this truck. My last JTR had catastrophic engine failure due to camshaft issues and I had to initiate a buyback(lawyer threatened). I don’t want to go through that again. I own this truck. I don’t want to be forced to renegotiate to buy another, again. I will wait for it to be repaired. However, I will probably buy another work truck in the time being. The JT chassis is ideal for me and my work, but so is a Tacoma. I still have my 2015 TRD Pro Tacoma and I’ll likely sell that to buy another.”

This is a copy/paste from another thread in regards to the HPFP recall.
Keep us posted. Mine left the chat as well.

For what it’s worth, I sold mine to the dealer for actual cash value and picked up a 2023 Rubicon for a good discount. Once the HPFP issue is resolved I may pick up another but for now it’s one less headache.

An update:

The service advisor called this morning to inform me of the regional reps decision. They have decided to replace my fuel system with currently available parts.

This leads me to believe that the “recall fix” is still up in the air. Rumors have been floating about that August is when the parts will arrive to fix the recall. I can’t imagine that’s true if they are just going to replace my entire fuel system being so close to August.

I asked if they tested the engine oil for any metal particulate and was told they have not yet. I requested that be performed before they replace the fuel system.

I hope this goes smoothly and I’m back in the drivers seat of my truck soon. I have faith in the dealer that they are taking care of me and my interests.

Will update when more information is available.

An update to my HPFP failure and it’s repair.

I received a call from the dealership that my JT is repaired and ready for pickup tomorrow morning. When I get the paperwork I will post the relevant information.

I’m happy to get my truck back. I’ve missed having the top off for the summer so far.

Well, I still haven’t been able to pick it up. The truck is displaying a DTC regarding the fuel pump(the “new” fuel pump).
Le sigh. The saga continues.

That sucks but can’t say I’m shocked.

She’s back in the driveway. The warranty/repair bill was over 11k. I haven’t sat down to read it just yet. I’ll post more information after I digest it all.

Man, I have missed this truck.

New injectors
New pump
New fuel rails
New fuel lines
New filter

This paperwork doesn’t show labor and parts cost. However, I did look at the dealer paperwork that showed their cost. Oh my.

I had them change the oil and filter while it was there( died on June 27th and received it back on August 3rd). They had my truck a total of 38 days.

I did receive the truck back with it still throwing a code. That code is most likely due to my AFE intake. I plan on uninstalling that intake tomorrow anyways as I have ordered the AEV dorkel. Hopefully, fingers crossed, reverting back to the stock intake will eliminate that last code. If it doesn’t, I’m sure the dealership will resolve it for me.

Overall, my dealership experience has been pretty good. My service advisor( Charles at Walnut Creek Jeep) was excellent and kept me in the loop for all the important developments. I would highly recommend him.

As for having the truck back, I am happy with it. it’s too early to tell if the performance has changed in anyway. I can only hope that they resolve the recall soon and that I don’t have to post anything about it otherwise from here on out.

I’m glad you’re back up and running! What concerns me is the HPFP they installed is the same part number that failed on the first place.

Ok, I’ve driven the truck all day for work and the check engine light came on after about 75 miles since picking it up from the dealership. The code being presented is the CCV code the intake has thrown before. I plan on swapping the AFE intake out tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully, it won’t return with the stock intake back on.

Check your CCV hoses and make sure everything is hooked back up. I’d bet someone left something unplugged..

I’ve done a thorough inspection already. It’s ship shape.

I don’t mind uninstalling the AFE intake. It’s a good excuse to get elbows deep into the engine bay and poke around to see what was touched by the diesel tech at the dealership.
