You can blame the insurance companies, they don't want to pay out the 5x extra it costs to fix you when you wreck without a seatbelt. And to those that say it only affects them - only if you're self insured, otherwise your dumb ass costs get passed on to the rest of us when you get all messed up not wearing it.

If the insurance companies could refuse coverage if you weren't wearing your seatbelt it'd be a different story, then I'd be all about it, Darwin and all that - and when you'd have to come out of pocket for the medical costs it'd ruin you financially to the point you wouldn't be able to afford a car anyway. Of course you probably wouldn't be able to pay it out of pocket and it'd get spread to the rest of the taxpayers, so we'd be paying for your stupidity one way or the other. Or you could just wear it. Or deal with the beeping for your mile long driveway.

I wear my seat belt 100% of the time when I'm driving in Maryland. When I'm up in the mountains of PA on the dirt roads I don't wear it. Not everyone lives in a place where they are driving particularly fast or where there are even other vehicles.
...and your an attorney???

I guess you’ve never seen anyone after being in an accident..even a relatively low speed one... i’m Just going to stop before I say something I shouldn't...

I wear a belt just to keep my carcass inside the vehicle, don't like the buzzer. But I have never understood the need for shoulder straps, they restrict freedom too much....

I even disabled the chime in my JT. I certainly don't need you to be caring about my wellbeing. Also, it's "you're" not your.

The fact that this is a thread is.......

Jamming a quarter down there will stop it, or it used to in many Jeeps. Everyone who doesn't want to wear a seat belt, please do this ASAP.

These are the same people that cite their 'first world problems'. Grow up.

If I had to listen to Post Malone I would take off my seatbelt and drive full speed into a god damned bridge embankment.
And if by chance you survived, you would probably look like post Malone

It's not your well being I'm concerned with. You're an adult, you make your choices.

The emergency crews however. I was an EMT. I've pulled a lot of people out of cars. Without a seat belt it can get messy, and the responders don't deserve to have to deal with it. Not to mention it's common to get ejected from the vehicle and searching the sides of the road at 3AM is not fun.

The number of assumptions in that paragraph is simply astounding. Again, I wear my seat belt 100% of the time I'm driving on hard roads. When I'm in the country and it's just dirt roads sometimes I don't wear it. That's never at 3 a.m. As you said, it's my choice and as adults we all understand what the consequences may be. Belaboring the point doesn't help anyone.

Deflection. Means you have no rationale
No deflection. You signed up for a job. You collect a paycheck and benefits for doing that job.

Sometimes that job is to clean up a mess. Never is that job to get in the way of a persons freedoms.

Real freedom will let a stubborn person fly through the windscreen like a Red Tailed Hawk. Fake freedom will put a nasty beeping noise in every vehicle ever sold and make the buyer pay for it.
