The other distressing thing about the MH sales staff occurred during my Gladiator test drive when the sales guy--as we were accelerating onto I35--said, "You can really feel that 4 cylinder turbo kick in, can't you?" And this was a small dealership representing Jeep. It probably pays to find a dealer that is a little better informed on their own products and specs.

Be glad you walked out, MH service is the worst of the worst. I have had great luck at Covert.
I agree--the Covert Jeep service seems well organized and friendly. Took the Rubicon there a few weeks ago for its second oil change and tire rotation.
Good to know.

Do you have any experience with Nyle Maxwells service? Its the closest to me. Ive bought from them before, but have never had to have anything done aside from the free oil changes.

In Canada, we don't really have those $2,000 - $3,000 dealer fees, but some dealers charge $800 for an "Administration" fee. I just laugh and say I'm, not paying it. $200 or $250, sure, not $800. Secondly I am spending my hard earned money, that the government has taxed 30% to 40% income tax, so they can kiss my... Lastly, I let them know that if the dealership name ends up on my vehicle in any other place then a plastic license plate surround, they owe me $1,000 a month for advertising. I bring a letter from my lawyer, just to let them know I'm not messing around.

When we buy a car it is a MUTUAL benefit to BOTH parties, one party should not try to screw the other. But somehow, it seems to happen more than it should.

I've been to two different Jeep dealerships (South Texas) and I'm being met with these ridiculous dealer fees that they are both telling me are non negotiable. Is this a thing with Jeep? In all states? Or am I getting screwed...
At one dealer, the extra total "package" was 3k. Included tinted windows, wheel locks, nitrogen in the tires and a few other things. Basically crap I didn't need or want. But he stood firm and said it's a "dealership thing" and is applied to all Jeep's and can't be negotiated. I walked out.
Went to another Jeep dealer, and there's was almost similar, but they charged 2k. Guy also said the same thing. I walked out again. lol
This is just insane to me. Anyone heard of this?
Look out of the market. Find a dealership in a nearby state that is willing to negotiate, they do still exist. Build exactly what you want on the Jeep website then you will know what true MSRP is. Then start checking states nearby. You can do that on the Jeep website too. The whole buying process can be handled on a computer nowadays. A Southwest Airlines one-way flight from Houston to Oklahoma City is only $200.00 and I found the dealer is more than happy to send someone to the airport to pick you up then you get to start ownership with a cool road trip back home.

I have a Gladiator on order from a dealer that usually adds about $2k to the sales price of the Jeeps on their lot with this kind of stuff (LoJack equivalent, plastic guards for the door handles, etc). I told them that I do not want anything added to my Gladiator when it arrives, and they confirmed that they won't. However, I don't have it in writing (other than not being on my build sheet). So this is something I've been thinking about and anticipating. Once I see that the Gladiator has shipped, I'm going to start calling them - perhaps on a daily basis - to remind them not to do these add-ons.

Yes, one of the dealers in central Texas (Georgetown) had this same bizarre package of things like window etchings and theft locating features for a mandatory price of around $2000. They had two different Gladiators that I was very interested in, but their refusal to budge on the dealership "packages" caused me to walk.
I just ordered one through GeorgeTown on Friday.

Just a month ago I bought my JTF at Lithia in Santa Fe, NM.
I called them before I drove from Albuquerque to make sure they weren't adding anything to MSRP.
They said something to the effect that they get more Jeeps than most due to the size of their dealership.

No. It wasn’t Gupton. It was one of the ones out West here. I actually plan on flying in and picking up from Gupton to drive back to California.
Which one? DM me if you want. I have an order in and am both concerned and intrigued.

Around here there's usually a sales pitch before signing the paperwork. A Toyota dealer tried to get me to purchase a $600 "high tech" body coating. I laughed at him and told him I wouldn't pay $50 for the service if he offered it. He laughed back as well lol.

A couple of jeep dealers have offered third party warrantees. I cut one woman off before she could finish her pitch to tell her I wasn't interested and her mood went from pleasent to annoyed.

I would be sure to leave some feedback on those dealers googel map reviews to let others know how they do business. In my circumstance I could opt out. I'd be furious if after negotiations a dealer said I have to pay 2-3k extra for some bullshit upgrades.
Crazy how they get annoyed when you don't want to play games. Like you should be happy your apr went up 4% once you got to the financing room.

I have never had service done there but have read their reviews. I would recommend going to Covert. Jim Thomas is an awesome service rep there.

Sellers market here in Canada too. Supply and demand is in the dealers hand now, but screw me over and I will tell at least 10 people and you will never get another purchase from me.
I am fortunate my spouse works at a JDCR dealership and they know me very well. The finance department is where they make decent profit not just on financing, but all the other things they try to sell you like rustproofing, undercoating, 3M, etching, etc. I have had no less than 7 new Stellantis vehicles in the last 10 years, not including the wife’s 3 Jeep’s, only because of the staff pricing. For a change up I sold my 2020 SRT Durango 6 months after I bought for $2800 more than I paid and got myself into something different. Really liking the change to a 21 Volvo XC40.
The standard add on fees are about $500 or so for administration, $20 for tire levy, and $100 for AC tax. That’s it.
Btw, the very first mod I do is lose the license plate frame and dealer sticker on the back. Then I usually debadge the plastic stick on identifiers. Makes it somewhat unique and personalized.

I haven't had my Jeeps serviced by Nyle Maxwell, but have had both a RAM 1500 (done at their Taylor store) and GMC Acadia (done at their Round Rock location), and both service departments were good. Their Taylor location is my favorite (have bought vehicles from Taylor, North Austin and Round Rock Nyle Maxwells), just a bit further drive.

Mine came with window tint, wheel locks, and the stupid plastic bed liner. I paid $1000 all of it, but got $7k off the truck MSRP. I didn’t care to negotiate and given that was the only Rubicon that was Sarge Green within 200 miles I took it. Before this silly market situation, I would of never have bought it. They won this time.

That's gold! I too hate the dealer nameplates that get put on the vehicle w/adhesive seemingly stronger than the regular from the factory badges, etc.

Fishing line/dental floss and a heat gun/hair blow dryer are a wonderful way to take of the “stinkin badges”
