Why does everyone leave those yellow protective bumper guards on them? They are for shipping and look terrible.
They also get grime and dirt in them which scratches the paint up pretty bad over time. Hopefully he gets them off soon.

Yes they’re ugly and tear up your paint too. That was on the way home. The dealer didn’t remove them and I didn’t want them touching it. The are long since gone.

Effective in 2023, from what the article says. I guess if you're wanting one for stuffing into your Gladiator, you'd better get off the snide and get 'er done.

I been wanting a working mans price 5.7 for these JTs but if they want to let me down, then a turbo straight six is a great way to do it. Global Medium Engine Turbocharged 6 .

https://www.stellpower.com/news-2021/whats-in-the-new-gme-t6-tornado/

"The engine first surfaced over three years ago, when Allpar broke the news of a new in-line six, code-named Tornado—just like the classic Kaiser-Jeep Tornado engine. Officially, or at least semi-officially, because officially nobody will confirm the existence of a new in-line six, the naming is just a coincidence; Daimler/Fiat Chrysler has been naming new engines after airplanes for quite some time, and the Tornado, like the Hurricane, Apache, and so on, is also an aircraft. But we can trust Hemmings or Allpar to bring you to speed on the classic engine, so let’s press on.

The inline six was engineered to fit into tight spaces; it’s not just a Hurricane, sorry, GME four-cylinder with two more cylinders added on. One reason for the long time getting this engine into production was trying to keep it as small as possible in length, and we’ve been told it’s only slightly longer than the WGE 2.4 four-cylinder. To get there, Chrysler’s old and reliable iron cylinder liners had to be replaced by another process (Comau’s SmartSpray cylinder hardening process is one possibility, but not the most likely). It’s worth mentioning that saving space is not just needed to fit the engine into vehicles not originally designed for it, such as the Wrangler; it’s also handy to keep the crankshaft as short as possible, especially if higher-performance variants are desired"

Absolute trash

It's like 1973 all over again

And i'm well aware engine tech is much better now. The turbo I6 will probably be a great engine, but it will sound like hammered dogshit because it's not a V8

I've been wondering what this is going to do to the aftermarket cost of the hemi. Will this announcement increase the theft rate of cars with them?
Maybe we'll start seeing gladiators with LT crate motors!

I wish I would have been able to keep my old 16 Hellcat and have a JT.

Guys, it's a 5.7L Hemi, not 5.8L. The only 5.8L I ever remember is the old Windsor 351 they used in a lot of Ford trucks back in the old days.

And insiders have said that the 5.7 Hemi isn't going away entirely. It'll likely still show up in the Ram pickups, and the next gen Challenger/Charger may use it with a hybrid system similar to what's in the Jeep 4xe.
The way I read the CEO’s release, the Challenger and Charger are both going away too…

It will be interesting to see how the company rebrands themselves. They have branded themselves as the big displacement misfits these past ten years. Besides Jeep, I’m not sure where else in their lineup they have any amount of uniqueness once their v8 options are gone.

The same reason people leave reflective tags on baseball caps, I assume.

I have no idea what the reason is, but they seem both similarly stupid.
