Ok so I have had my 20 Gobi S (max tow) now for a little under a year. Just hit 5k miles.
I have a few tiny mods on it currently. Level with rubicon suspension goodies. 35's, wheels, etc. Nothing crazy to put on take or take off.

With the way trade values have been lately, it makes me consider looking into trading to a 21 Rubicon.
I would have originally went Rubicon, but at the time I was looking, i didnt really have the fundage and did see any reason to when the max tow offered the 4.10's and wider axle etc.

I did regret not getting the LED package (though i do have non factory LED stuff now), the 8.4, and cold weather.

I love my Gobi color, but Sarge and Nacho catch my eye. I like the thoughts of the extras i did not get, and having sway bar disconnect and lockers. (I know I can add to my Sport S). I also still need to have the steering TSB done.

I am having a tough time deciding if I should look into trade at this time. OR keep my Gobi color that i like.
I am just afraid that no dealers will do much negotiation with lot vehicles.

I would think about ordering, but not sure how that would work with me having a trade or trying to predict the future value / incentives when the vehicle is ready for pickup. That is why lot ready ones entertain me.

Thoughts?

For me, the only tough decision is giving up the Gobi color. I wish Gobi or Gator was available with the 21s. I was waiting for enough used gladiators to be available because I swore id never buy a new vehicle. The price of them used compared to how much they are taking off new is a joke. Bought my 21 Rubi for less than any used Rubi I could find in my area with comparable packages, so why wouldn't I? if you can get a good offer for yours and really want the Rubicon, go for it. I've never had a vehicle I would consider "loaded" but man these options are awesome. I think I have everything except for the safety packages and diesel and I love every option. I wheel mine so I the all the rubi features was a must for me. Good luck

If I didn't own a Gator Max Tow I would consider trading up to a Rubicon but for what I would spend on a Rubicon I could just add lockers to mine and Save myself $12,000. Plus I have already got mine pretty much where I want it as far as ride quality goes, I got the Rubicon shocks and Rubicon factory take off suspension so the only real gain for me would be the sway bar disconnects and I actually don't care to much for that.

I have a Gator and am fighting myself on the same thing. There is a Sarge rubi with leather and a few other things I'd like which seems attainable. This biggest thing is that it's a manual and I do miss rowing through the gears.

You may be able to sell yours for more through carvana, vroom, or CarMax, but then you'll have to pay sales tax on the full amount of the new JT, so you probably want to do some math to see what your best scenario is. Also 5k miles is very low so I'm sure you'll get a great offer.

Good luck! I'm struggling with the decision too. Really can't tell if this is a "grass is always greener" situation.

yeah man, its a tough decision to consider due to the great returns of trade values at the moment. KBB shows mine being worth more at the moment than I paid.

Only 5K miles? You're neglecting her.

I'd keep what you have. No point in a small marginal upgrade.

Anyone unhappy with their color can just wrap the vehicle.

the 4:1 Transfer case is also awesome for wheeling so when you add up that with lockers, sway bar disconnects, extra skid plates, what you spent on the rubi suspension, off road mode, etc. then its worth it if you're going to be off roading more regularly

I ended up with the sting-gray because its kind of a similar flat color compared to all the metallic colors.

I traded my sport s I hydro for a Mojave in hydro. After taking into consideration the price of the upgrades, how I was able to find one for under invoice and the current trade in it was only 4K difference. My payment stayed virtually the same.

YMMV

I just sold mine to Vroom for more than what I paid for it. The experience with Vroom was a nightmare, however they did offer me the best price by far. Now waiting to see if any new colors or news regarding 2022 models comes out soon.

Vroom gave me a great price too. Haven't decided what I'd do yet, but what was involved with the nightmare?
