I understand you shopped on line for tires and waiting for them to arrive is half that battle but I’m not understanding why choose that over going to a tire merchant near you where you’d have balancing done, your concerns looked after, perhaps even a tire replacement if needed or warranty issues cared all while you sit and have a coffee in their waiting room.
I did it because $200/tire vs $300/tire. There are definitely trade-offs. I'm not so sure I would have purchased from a site like OP did. Ebay always offers money back guarantees. But like I mentioned above it was hard finding a tire shop that would install and not charge an exorbitant amount. Found a place that mounted and balanced for $50/tire. I ended up saving a few hundred bucks. But then again you don't get lifetime balancing, rotating, etc. So, is it really worth it in the long run? Probably will never buy tires online again but I wouldn't say it is a horrible way to buy tires or a bad experience.

I saved about $150 per tire buying them from that particular website compared to buying them from Gateway Tire, which is a local tire shop. That's the per tire cost of buying on the website versus the cash and carry price from the local shop. The 4th tire will be here tomorrow. As long as it's got a recent manufacture date, I guess it turned out alright, and I will probably just let the whole thing be forgotten. $750 is not a small amount of money to me, so I don't feel like it was a bad choice to buy online. If the guy had been up front about their current stock levels, I'm not sure that I would have cancelled the order. Hopefully, the last tire that I ordered from them will be here tomorrow, and this saga will be over.

Evidently you didn't read the entire thread, and I don't blame you. Seller said he shipped 4 tires on Jan 13. On Jan 20, I received a pallet that only had 3 tires on it, despite the fact that the seller said 4 tires were shipped. I had to contact the seller and have them ship another tire, as he thought that 4 tires had been shipped. I have had orders split up before. This is not what happened here. This was a case of the seller just not shipping the 4th tire until 2 weeks after the order was placed.

I know what we would do as a company.

Email you before processing your payment, letting you know that we only have 3 tires, and the ETA for the 4th is this long. Would you like to wait or have an immediate refund?

This happens often as inventory can change in a 5 minute time frame allowing an order to be placed on our website and its physically already gone. It sucks, because we lost a sale, and the customer isn't getting what they ordered, but its a less than perfect world.

Yes, and I would have been perfectly happy with this. It is what I have come to expect with online purchases, and I spend a lot of money online.

Just an update, they said they shipped the 4th tire on Tuesday, but here's the tracking. It will not be here until tomorrow.

I hope those tires all have belt seperation and go out of round. What a whiner.
You disrespect the very people that made it possible for you to do the things you do today. even your own parents.

What a cry baby, 9 pages of whining about me, me, me.
Grow up little whatever, the world is cruel. Get over it.

I picked up a used tire machine at an auction years ago. I have saved a lot of coin ordering tires and mounting them myself. Especially before we had to pay taxes on out of state purchases.
You also find out how many friends you have. 🤣
