In the situation I'm currently in, would being 200-300 lbs over be a huge red flag in this case? Adding a hundred pounds of WDH is kind of questionable now..........I love the look of this one and the deal is solid, but I don't want to wander into unsafe territory..........
Wow, I had a WDH that would sag the bottom of a lot of trucks before anything was connected to it and I can't imagine it weighed 100 pounds - but then I was younger then, too.
The one for the camper I had was maybe 40 pounds. Matched about right for that camper.

What you can do is move off some of the load to the trailer (if possible - and be below its own limits)
If you don't need to haul the stuff right in the truck, like coolers, luggage, whatever, it can maybe ride in what you are pulling.

Say a trailer is 4,000 pounds (which would be around right for 400 pound tongue weight) and it has a gross weight capability of 5,000 pounds. You could load the trailer up to 4500 and be way under the tow capacity of the truck and under the max weight of the trailer, keeping only necessary stuff in the truck itself to minimize payload.

Mine is something like 9060 I think, would have to look at the door sticker again.
I have in my mind/head about where it's at with all the stuff on and in it and try to keep it close but I also don't sweat it if I hit 1,000 pounds, even 1050. But I do try to keep it down. I don't feel like pressing my luck or abusing it.
I put my duffel bag of clothes, tent, camp chair, and some of my other stuff in the back of the car I was towing on my trailer. I figured I was well under tow weight and the trailer could easily to another 2500 pounds (not with this truck, though LOL)

I think I read those Titans were pretty solid as for reliability goes. I'd stick with the truck you have and get an older Wrangler if you want a Jeep for the weekends.

I just bought a 2021 Willys from CarMax here in SC. Only had 10,500 miles, plenty of packages, bed liner, folding bed cover. Price was $43k. Had it shipped from TN, came in 4-5 days sooner than they said.

drove it bought it.

I really like the titan. I've only put 15k on it, but it's been bulletproof. Having only midsize trucks in the past(colorado/ranger/frontier) it is a step up as far as size goes. 90% of the time I don't need it and I really do miss my wrangler. If it wasn't for the travel trailer, the Jeep would already be in the driveway. The travel trailer empty is only 2600lbs. When I get back into town, I'll hook it up to the Jeep and see how it does. That's the only way to put this to rest........

I bought another car from Carmax to commute in 5 months ago. The prices were a little high, but if you keep your eyes open they seem to mislabel some and price them according to the label and not the VIN. I bought a MINI Cooper JCW that was labeled and priced as an "S" model. Even with this High Altitude that I'm currently looking at. It's labeled as an Overland and in line with their Overland prices. The high Altitudes they have labeled as such are all $4k more and have twice as many miles.........Overall, a huge fan of the Carmax buying "experience".........The transfers are quick and the process is low pressure and so easy.........

I’ve bought multiple cars from CarMax and yes they can be a bit pricey, and trades are usually low ball, especially if you’ve modified the vehicle.

I was going to trade my ā€˜15 Wrangler for the Gladiator but it had beef used as a towed car behind my motorhome. My youngest son who is a buyer for CarMax told be they don’t want modifiers, will over only what they might get at auction. So I sold it to my neighbor.

there were a few issues with the descriptions but figured it out before buying.

I do like the there it is, want it, pay this approach.

My wife bought her last car from CarMax too, a nice 2017 Mini convertible in Caribbean Aqua. Gorgeous. It had less than 9,000 miles. This was in 2021.
