I am in the market for a tonneau cover for my 2024 Gladiator Willys. The Willys came with the spray in bedliner. They never took the time to cover the threaded bolt holes in the bed of the truck. Need a die set to clean out the holes. Does anyone know what I should use to clean them out? I think I saw 6mm, but not sure of the thread count (if that is the correct term). Thank you for your assistance!

Watching this thread. I have the spray in liner as well and would like to retap those holes.

I was able to just use a small/thin flathead screwdriver to clear it out, in combination with slowly working the screw in/out. I think I used a touch of WD-40 on one but they cleaned up fairly easily.

If you have an old soldering iron, get it hot and stick in the hole first for 15 seconds or so. The heat softens the liner material and a tap goes in much easier.

Get a 6mm bolt, file/cut 2 groves down the threads (so it looks like a tap). This will cut through the over spray without damaging the internal threads.

The bolts on the tailgate panels are the same size as the threads in the bed. They have the grooves already cut in them. I used one of these bolts to clean the threads when I added some tie downs.

This is one of those sleeper threads!! :)

I keep looking at mine knowing whether I have a need or not, I'm going to want to clean them out just so I can come up with a use, or not. 😎

Thanks for this thread!!
