I’m looking to put 35s on my Mojave. I’ve been looking at Nitto Ridge Grapplers, BFG KO2s, and Falken AT3s. I heard nittos have a very quick tread wear. Anyone have any suggestions?

I went with the Falkens in a 285/75 17 (34 on a good day). Love them so far. Can't wait for winter because a) it's really f-ing hot, and b) they are supposed to be awesome on snow/ice.

The Falken AT3Ws are awesome in snow and ice. I chose 255-80-17 which have spec height of 33.1 and work without any mods on road and trails.

I highly recommend the Kumho Road Venture MT KL71 tires that I run on my JTR.

The new Kumho Road Venture MT71 tires are also very nice. They also offer them in a 35x12.50r17.

I got mine from @Discount Tire here on the forum. They're a forum sponsor, so they give us great prices! I'd check with them first. :like:

Ditto on @Discount Tire. Great service and if you off road a lot, their tire Certificate of Replacement is cheap insurance for all sorts of stuff you could accidentally hit. Don't work there and it's your call, but if you're buying a nice set of tires (@$300 apiece) it's good piece of mind. And like AMM said above, they price match.

I also used Discount Tire and their forum connection. My 255s were oly around $200 each--tires get a lot more expensive, and heavier as you go bigger, especially at the outer diameter where they add a lot of inertia as well.

The tires you mention along with the forum members recommendations are all solid choices. Which tire is best for you depends on your driving conditions and what is most important to you in you next set of tires.

PM coming your way.

I went with 35 11.5 17 Toyo AT III. Severe weather rated and a little lighter than the 33 MTs that came on it!

I am leaning heavily towards this tire. Can you give a measurement in height to compare with the stock Falkens? I added a 2" spacer and wanna see how much it'll fill the wheel well now.

Sweet setup. How much the AT IIIs weight and what is the ride like on dry and on wet? Many (some) owners on latest BFG AT KO2s report degraded performance on both dryand wet compared to the older versions. I am considering these AT IIIs.

Toyo A/T IIIs are good tires, I have a set of 285/75/17 load range C 59lbs, they are 34” tall. Really good in snow and rain made in the US and take very little weight to balance. Here is a picture of the size I have next to stock Falken 285/70/17s both on stock 7.5” wide rims. A solid inch taller.

general atx, duratrac, cooper stt maxx or pro are all good tires. Im about to try the falken at3w.

i like those listed much better than nitto or ko2. The nittos seem to wear out quickly from wear and dont perform well in the wet/snow. My personal experience with ko2 was horrific. My personal truck the tread lugs wore down considerably and by 10k miles the lugs were cracking off. On my vehicle fleet in africa i had all kinda of issues- belts breaking. Tread bands separating from the carcass. Lugs breaking down from sand and weight. On and on. I eventually dumped them as a brand all together. The general atx held up much, much better as did the cooper and the duratrac. of all the AT’s, duratrac seemed to grip mud the best and generals lasted the longest. Between those three, it was all close enough i didnt care which one the supplier had. As long as it wasnt a bfg ko2.

if you like the tread pattern of the ko2, then get the atx. Its a superior tire and usually for less money. They lasted me 3-4 times longer than the ko2’s in harsh conditions.

Great info. Thx
I am leading towards either General Grabber A/TX or Toyo AT IIIs (if they acer confirmed as decent) for summer and either Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT3 or Duractrac for winter. If the summer choices would happen to be also great winter tires then one set only. All for Mojave with stock susp in size 35".
Any new/additional info regarding the above would be appreciated.
