Wanting to replace my tires with a larger size but was told they will rub! I have 255 75R17 firestone destinations original tires on a 2024 gladiator jeep beach addition. What size can be installed? It does have a leveling kit.

Do you plan on keeping the stock wheels and just replacing the tires? How big of a tire do you want to go to? I replaced my wheels and tires recently and don't get any rubbing. I went with the RockTrix wheels that have a +12 offset (5.5" Backspacing)paired with 35x11.5xr17s. I installed a leveling kit and replaced the sport s shocks and springs with rubicon take-offs.

I literally almost did the same thing except my tires are 34s (285/75r17) with my +12 Rocktrix wheels. I added rubicon shocks and springs and a level kit. I do have a Rocktrix code if anyone needs it

We almost had the exact setup lol. I was going to go with that tire size but the 35s were on sale and ended up being cheaper.

Check your inbox.
If you peruse the tire subforum you can find a lot of info on tire sizes that will fit.

35s will likely fit and the "rubbing" is usually at/near full lock turns or full suspension travel, which many rarely get to.

I am still under a factory warranty, so for now I would like to keep the wheels and just up size the tires, will doing the 275 still clear? I think I was told they are 35's and the ones I have are 33's as I was told?

If you do this make sure you either get a Tazer or dealer flash to incorporate the tire size. Your speedometer will be way off
I have the Tazer, thought about it when i purchased it.

More importantly, if you have an automatic trans, your shift points will be messed up as well.

You may go slightly taller, but narrower at the same time. If you can find 235/85-17, that are an inch taller. That will be less prone to hydroplaning in rainy weather. Better in snow. Arguably better in deep sand at low psi.

A few things to consider and this is all based on my experience in sizing up with a leveling kit.

If you're planning to keep the factory wheels, you don't want to push the width of the tires too much to the max for your factory 7.5 wheel width. I ran through 2 sets of 85 70 17 E rated (10ply) Hankook AT's and on the 3rd set I got the C rated (7 ply) tires and after that install I developed the death wobble. I upgraded a bunch of suspension components and finally my alignment guy mentioned that maybe my wheel width wasn't sufficient for the tire size because they looked a little too pinched and he said that could affect the sidewall integrity. I was skeptical and ignored it and when those tires wore out I decided to move up to a 33 12.5 tire and so I got new wheels 17x8.5. After changing to that tire/wheel combo, death wobble solved.

Now, on the sizing and rub issue... If you can, measure the actual height of the tire you plan to buy and make sure it is true to size. The Hankook 285 70's were just a hair over 32 inches and when I bought the 33's they looked smaller on the truck and when I measured those tires were almost a full inch smaller in diameter than the Hankook 285's. I ended up getting the 35's which actual measurement was just over 34 inches. They fit fine in every day driving. They rub on the fenders when at moderate articulation/flex. (I have a sport s with factory fenders)

So apparently different manufacturer tires of same size might "fit" differently on your truck. Hope that helps.
