Trading in, and getting more than it stickered?

Yeah I’m not sure what it is other than wrong dealers, my area (east Tn) or what.

May have something to do with so many below invoice dealers in the region. East Tennessee is somewhere between Gupton & Tri-City.

Market here in the upper Midwest was very cool on Gladiators for a large part of 2021. By fall, it really upticked for some reason. I started tracking daily valuation for my 2020 Sport S in October and it was like $5-$6k higher than in the spring, which is why I pulled the trigger on a sale in December.

I’ve been tracking too but it’s def not working out like it says the valuation should be for my area.

Definitely depends on your local geographic area. I wasn’t convinced by Carvana/Vroom alone, I did the KBB Instant Cash offer bit several times and had standing purchase offers from local dealers. All that convinced me the inflated marketplace in my area for Gladiators was indeed real.

Have you tried the KBB instant cash offer locally? (KNOXVILLE) When I try it says my vehicle isn’t eligible. Just wondering if it is just me or maybe they just don’t want a Mojave?

I suspect the no offers are for manual transmissions, just a theory of mine.

I have. They are usually lower than the trade value when you look it up. Also, sometimes it will work , and other times it will not.

Interesting discussion. I initially started looking just for shits and giggles as I was looking for something for my son who gets his license next month. Had a 2020 Sport S with remote start and not much else. Added Fox lift, 35s and wheels.

Carvana - $36k
Vroom - $37.5K
Max at local dealer was $37K, plus trade difference which adds a couple grand or so in tax savings.
I think KBB was somewhere around $38k or $39K, which is what I was hoping to get.

Last dealer I visited put $41.5K in it. No way I could turn that down. Plus $6K off sticker. (add back in $2k for stupid dealer adds), but still a sweet deal since other dealers were at sticker, over sticker, or very small discounts.

It's crazy how varied the offers are. I used to sell CJDR many moons ago. Still know folks in the business including GSMs and SMs. Even they wouldn't touch the deal I got. Wondering if I can parlay my new Mojave into a better deal! Think my gf would kill me for even trying!

I'm glad I got exactly what I wanted the first time, now I don't have to spend time regretting my decision and looking at options to get out of it. This was probably the only vehicle I did not weigh any options and cost/benefit analyses and just went for the exact configuration I'd be happy with.

Good thing you dont have the trading bug. Ive always been one to move from vehicle to vehicle even if I get what I want or dont. haha.
