Because you may want a different type or brand. It's an accessory. There are different types of brake controllers - having it installed not as an option would leave some unhappy. How the hell do you have "max tow" with no brake controller!
I am pretty sure they intended for the trailer brake controller to be on the Max Tow and included in the other tow/trailer packages at launch but ran into problems and pulled it before launch. It was included and shown in the early press junkets in late 2018, early 2019 model reveals.Does the Max tow come with the brake controller?
It was shown in all of the marketing materials and pamphlets in late 2019 when I ordered my Overland and stayed in those pics for months after that.I am pretty sure they intended the trailer brake controller to be on the Max Tow and included in the other tow/trailer packages at launch but ran into problems and pulled it before launch. I’ve got the bed sliders for saleOh, and did I make the right decision? And does anyone have Rubicon rock sliders or wheel/tire take offs for sale? Gotta start somewhere.![]()
Remember the same also. I know they eventually released it as an accessory for awhile and then stopped and now it is treated like a redhead step child and ignored by MOPAR.It was shown in all of the marketing materials and pamphlets in late 2019 when I ordered my Overland and stayed in those pics for months after that.
They had a lot of troubles getting the product to market as an accessory, the instructions were all wrong and now I see even the knob/dial has been changed. And to top it off - there was the ABS fiasco where it freaked out with the MOPAR or any other third party brake controller that connected to that harness.
The solution - flash the ABS to tell it to ignore the brake light signal from the brake controller.
Wow, what programmer came up with that?
I have the rubicon rock slider take offs. Let me know if you're traveling to Florida anytime soon.Oh, and did I make the right decision? And does anyone have Rubicon rock sliders or wheel/tire take offs for sale? Gotta start somewhere.![]()
I had the dealer install the MOPAR OEM brake controller in my overland. it was stupidly expensive compared to the Prodigy, but it integrates into the dash nicely, and if there's a problem with it, the way it interacts with the systems or any other issues, THEY get to deal with it instead of pointing fingers at a 3rd party solution. This computerized stuff is SO touchy sometimes. I just didn't want to deal with it. And I must say, it is the smoothest operating controller I've ever had. It's just seemless.Because you may want a different type or brand. It's an accessory. There are different types of brake controllers - having it installed not as an option would leave some unhappy.
I've never seen any JT come factory with it installed.
I have sliders. Michigan here.Oh, and did I make the right decision? And does anyone have Rubicon rock sliders or wheel/tire take offs for sale? Gotta start somewhere.![]()
I’m heading to Richmond ky end of May and could haul them with. But that’s stillOh, and did I make the right decision? And does anyone have Rubicon rock sliders or wheel/tire take offs for sale? Gotta start somewhere.![]()
where you at with those bed sliders? I’m in MI.I’ve got the bed sliders for sale
It does work, and works well. I've had mine in two JTs now - the 2020 and this 2022 and it works great. Nice to be able to change the gain in an instant when changing road conditions like going from concrete to gravel and back. It integrates nicely into the look of the dash. Just wish MOPAR would have done a better job out of the gate with it - instructions, mounting and so on.I had the dealer install the MOPAR OEM brake controller in my overland. it was stupidly expensive compared to the Prodigy, but it integrates into the dash nicely, and if there's a problem with it, the way it interacts with the systems or any other issues, THEY get to deal with it instead of pointing fingers at a 3rd party solution. Get a Rubicon they will already be on there.Oh, and did I make the right decision? And does anyone have Rubicon rock sliders or wheel/tire take offs for sale? Gotta start somewhere.![]()
with lower towing and payload and more expense off the line.Get a Rubicon they will already be on there.
Yeah true I suppose if towing is the main goal . I had 2 different Ram diesels. Towed very rarely and seen that that wasn't my need we all have a different pitch in this JT Gladiator world.with lower towing and payload and more expense off the line.
Even if towing isn't the main goal - you can buy a Sport S a lot cheaper and build it up. Many don't care about the front and rear lockers, sway bar disconnects and all the extra "stuff" of a Rubicon. Frankly, I wish I could still buy a JT with limited slip instead of being forced into the higher end stuff and forced into lockers I'd never use in my lifetime.Yeah true I suppose if towing is the main goal .
