Tri-Fold or "locking" bed covers.

Have been looking at tri-fold/hard bed covers that essentially "lock" when the tailgate is locked. I have two I am looking at below and am also open to suggestions. Also check the "outlet" store thing as I'm wondering if anyone has ever used that and how it went.

Lowmax 20-ON Jeep Gladiator 5ft Bed (w/ Trail Rail) (Diamond Plate).
Question on this one, on the website same part number it's 1100 bux. But if I go to "outlet" store it's 759 bux. Has anyone ever used the outlet store and had good results? Link: https://shop.agricover.com/product/outletlomax

Thoughts? Also they talk about "trail rails" which my buddy said it was fine without, are these required? He has the lowmax w/o trail rails.

I have the Gator EFX hard folding cover from Realtruck. It can't be opened until you open the tailgate.

Extang is another option. No personal experience, I have just seen them on a few Gladiators in my area.

I have the Gator EFX hard folding cover from Realtruck. It can't be opened until you open the tailgate.

I also have the Gator EFX hard trifold for a couple years now and still looks brand new. I love it. Low profile. Tight as can be, no water or anything getting in it. Rides nice closed or open, no noise or rattling. Can take like 350 lbs on top. When the bed is closed it is locked tight. You'd have to pry it open with some tools and effort.

I have the Line-X tonneau cover which I believe is the same as BAKFlip except the top is sprayed with Line-X. It also can't be opened until the tailgate is opened. Not only is the Line-X version strong, but it also has a lifetime warranty.

Couldn't you just slip a coat hanger under there and pull the release wire?

As you probably know since lock was in quotes above, they don't truly lock. I have the Roll-n-lock which does lock and works awesome. Love it.

If they're going to go through that much trouble, they could just take the entire jeep which would be easier.

I have had a WeatherTech Alloy tonneau cover on my 2020 for 4 yrs now and have nothing bad
to say. I believe it can support a claimed 300 lbs (although I've never tested it) but big snows are no problem.
Inside the box stays dry in all weather, it is secure and convenient. I do need to occasionally
retighten the tabs in the box (probably should use Locktite or similar), when it vibrates loose the
tab can move and lose the lockdown function

If concerned, the owner could install a quick connect/disconnect on the wire itself. The owner would disconnect the pull wire before closing the tailgate. That would eliminate that issue.

I'm not too worried since I don't live in a city or high-theft area, nor do we keep anything too valuable in the bed. We have a BedRug, so our main purpose for the tonneau cover is to keep luggage, hiking gear, groceries, and various parts/materials dry and out of the elements.

not sure about the Line X, but on the Gator EFX the top of it goes about half way over the top of the tailgate when closed, and it has about a half inch drop that the tailgate closes tight against. The top is darn tight as well. A hanger could work if you had four 90 degree angles at exactly the right spacing and you used a heck of a lot of pressure to even get it between the cover and the tailgate.

You'd be better with a crow bar and trying to pry it open. It may not have a lock but it's locked tight.

I’ve had 2 of the backflip covers and still do on another truck, pretty trivial to open honestly if you know how they work.

To validate I just went out to one of my other trucks with a backflip and it took 30 seconds for me to open it, including the time to undo the wire hanger
