Hi all, bought my 2020 gladiator in April. and the only thing I don't love about it is the bed cover, specifically the latches. The cover is a Tonneau Gator Tri-Fold. The latches by the tail gate are the kind that you have to pull down to latch into the side rails. I've seen videos where people latch these with zero effort, either they are the strongest people alive or my latches need some sort of adjustment, they are so incredibly tight that one is difficult to latch, and the other is impossible.

Has anyone else had any experience with this, or know how to fix the issue? I'm contemplating getting a roll up cover anyway, to be able to use the whole bed, but the latch thing has me bewilderered.

is it the cables themselves? i.e. if you're not trying to latch it, it's just in the upright position... is it tight then?

It lies completely flat, it just feels like the springs in the latches are extra industrial strength.

On my gator trifold, you can spin the handles to adjust the tension. Maybe yours is different though.

I never had any trouble latching them once I figured out the subtle tricks to latch it easy. Most are too subtle to even put into works.

One is that you slide it as close to the bed rail as possible before trying to stretch it.

One other is that most of the time, I just latched the drivers side. That cuts the effort in half. Ha.

I didn't know you could adjust the spring preload. Though I'd give that a try. Its easier than hitting the gym. ;-)

Yeah the drivers is way easier than the passengers. I did try to turn them, but the plastic casing on the spring seems pretty rigid.
Thanks folks!
