What’s everyone using to store their gear. I have an open bed and carry a lot of gear. I had a Decked, but am looking for other options.

I started with a tonneau cover and eventually replaced it with a RSI Smartcap. I have a couple Dewalt boxes up front that are the width of the bed. I have a few plastic totes, some milk crates, and some five gallon buckets.

Dewalt DWST08204 Extra Large Tough System Tool Box. They don't show on Amazon anymore, may have been replaced with something newer.

I bought two of the Dewalt boxes three years ago for $49 each. It looks like the replacement is DWST08400. The best I could find is $79 each at Home Depot.

What's worse is that, IIRC the replacements no longer have the metal attachment on the rear to connect up to the rolling carrier.

I installed two SwingCases using rivnuts instead of the self tappers they come with. I also have a generic toolbox from Walmart for most of my tools.

I followed your lead and bought 2 of them off Amazon at a closeout price. Fit just fine under the Bak roll up and held to the bulkhead with a strap.

I like this a lot. I have a roll-n-lock cover and use Milwaukee packouts for all my gear. However I’m always just kinda stuffing gear in those spaces around the wheels.

It's been working great, I just misplaced the keys somewhere and haven't been able to remove them lol

I have a milk crate secured near the tailgate.
I have a fabric tonneau cover, anything of value goes in the back seat.

When I get a hard cover I'll come up with a better storage method, probably plywood bins.

I am using Molle panels to store my big tools and a Rugged Ridge hard panel folding tonneau cover. It allows me to still use the bed for carrying big stuff. I carry my smaller tools and other recovery gear for my winch in the storage underneath and behind the rear seats.

Here is a link of how I setup mine and the quick fist I used. 4 years like that now, with tons of tough 4wheeling with no issues, no rattles, nothing loose or broken. It has been bullet proof. Enjoy !

Note: I use those ratchet straps for the safe jack and my inflation hoses just in case I need ratchet straps in an emergency and also to add on top of the safe jack and hoses a water container and Wavian metal gas can on it's side (fill opening facing up) when I need it for long trips (like the Rubicon trail).

With the Molle panels, I was able to use the extra space to load up my Gazelle tent, pad, cooking gear, sleeping gear, gas, water, frige, battery for fridge, etc.... in the bed and close the tonneau cover for the Rubicon trail. Being able to close the tonneau cover is key for something like the Rubicon trail.... -- otherwise, you wil be dropping gear on the trail, or may suffer in a flash rain.... It also helps a lot on center of gravity for this tough sometimes off camber trail. Here is my bed loaded for the Rubicon trail trip. The bag on top of the Tonneau is a trash bag I setup that attaches to the clips on top of the Rugged Ridge Tonneau cover.
