So, today I hitched up my travel trailer to take it to the dealership to get inspected and ready for a trip in 2 1/2 weeks ('20 JT Overland with trailer package, built 6/19, delivered 7/19).

I plugged in my 7-pin connector to the factory plug, and before I even started my truck, I noticed the running lights were on on the trailer, with NOTHING else on, including the truck.

So, I started the truck and tested lights...running, turn signals, hazards, etc. and all was fine.

Go to drive away with it and get abut 30' and the brakes on the trailer...just the passenger side not the driver's side...locked up leaving a nice 5' skid mark on my grass (trailer is parked on a concrete pad , and I drive across my yard to get to the road).

So, called the trailer place and did a few tests in the yard with them on the phone. The wires in the junction box were all intact and well wire nutted connected. Tried unplugging my brake controller, restarted the truck (with the trailer plugged in to the 7-pin) and there were no lights on the trailer what-so-ever.

So, got the trailer to the dealership (fortunately only 2 miles away) and they did some testing. They repeated the unplugging of the brake controller and, got the same result I did, nothing showing on their tester plugged into the 7-pin. Reconnected the brake controller, and everything works again...brake lights, turn signals, hazards on both their tester and the trailer itself, and again, the trailer running lights are on...tried to move the trailer, and again just the one side brakes locked up.

One thing their tester did show was that the circuit for the running lights was always on, in the 7-pin even though the truck lights were either off, or set to auto, AND the truck NOT running.

The trailer dealership said that they've seen this before and it's more than likely that the power train or body control modules need to be flashed to correct the error of constant running light signal through the tow package. The really bizarre part, to me, is why would only ONE side of the trailer brakes lock up and not both sides?

One other thing to note, even with the brake controller unplugged, there was still power for running lights being fed through the 7-pin connector even when everything in the truck was turned off.

I'm supposed to go away with the trailer 11 Sept. but unfortunately, the earliest the dealer can get me in is the Friday before, the 8th. Cutting it a bit close for my taste...

Anyone else experience this? Did you get the control module flashes? Did that fix the issue? Any other thoughts or pearls of wisdom youse guys can impart that I can take with me when I am at the dealership? I'm no electrician so, there's that...
