Truck wont start

Fuel pump went tits up and transmission was forced into neutral via the hidden lever.
Will the truck start if the lever is still locked in neutral? Pump has been replaced but won't start.

Can you put it in park?

Did an independent shop do the pump? No warranty?

The owner's manual pg 379 tells you haw to manually release it. Sorry dont have the manual with me right now.
