Hi all,

I've been looking at snatch straps and have narrowed it down to these two.

If anyone has any 1st hand experience with these products I'd appreciate it

Or if you have input on the qualty of customer support from these companies I'd like to hear it.

or finally if you have an alternative that you think is better, lets hear it.

i'm trying to stay below $100.

My needs are pretty minimal and both of these are probably overkill. We're talking about fire roads and beaches and maybe snow.

Thanks.

2 different uses. Rhino is a kinetic strap that will be useful for running starts. The ARB is a static pull.

Go ARB.

24k vs 15k

so, you’ve got a 6,000lbs truck as you’re all loaded up for exploring the wilds of the Americas.
You come across a fully kitted land cruiser resting on its frame in some serious muck! She probably weighed 7,000lbs!

Grab your strap, hook it up, get a running start
..

what kind of load is that? I’m not an engineer, but you’ve got 13,000lbs of vehicle plus what ever load is added from doing the herky-jerky.

Good point. 60% more capacity/strength.

When choosing a snatch strap for use, it is recommended that the strap has a minimum breaking strength (MBS) of between two to three times the vehicle’s gross vehicle mass (GVM). When using a snatch strap to recover a stranded vehicle, the MBS should be suited to the GVM of the lighter of the two vehicles involved in the recovery process. If the GVM is not stated on the identification plate or registration certificate of the vehicle, consult the owner’s handbook or vehicle manufacturer.

That's the incorrect Rhino product. You should be looking at the 7/8" or 1" version

Thank you. I see now.

Based on GVSukids recommendation, then the ARB was too thinck.

If we figure 3 x 6000 lbs we get 18,000

So this one looks like its better suited to a Gladiator. 17,600 lb rated.

Thanks again. You even saved me money. As I think about it, it all makes sense. If you get too heavy a strap it won't stretch. So there is an optimal strength. If we figure 17600/6000 you are at 2.93x.

So plenty of headroom if the truck ends up heavier or is pulling a trailer.

Nope. The ARB says 20% stretch.

ARB ARB710LB 3-1/4" x 30' Recovery Snatch Strap Minimum Breaking Strength 24000 lbs Kinetic Stretch 20% With Reinforced Eyes and Protector Sleeves

If I'm wrong, please explain why. But they are both listed as snatch straps.
Don’t use the arb like a kinetic rope. It may say kinetic but it’s not a kinetic rope. If it were me I’d spend the money and get a 7/8” by 30’ rope. They’re so much easier on the vehicles especially if you will be in sand. Also get some good soft shackles.

don't use it like a kinetic rope? You're the only one calling it that.

Its a snatch strap, it has stretch.
You use it like a snatch strap, not a dead pull. You want some momentum to utilize the stretch in the strap. Snatch straps are fantastic for sand.

If you dont know anything about recovery or tools, you shouldn't be giving advice.

I bought that exact ARB, based on name/rep and performance profile. I had a gen-you-wine Bubba Rope for the H2, that went with the ex. I didn't dig that much stretch. The ARB has enough give to get some momentum and hopefully not kill anyone.

Only used it to pull an oak off the road hunting last fall, good enough.

Got the 7/8" size and the rope seems to jerk the vehicle instead of stretching enough.

My 7/8" Bubba Rope is awesome, at least in snowy conditions it is. Last trip I didn't even use the winch. I used the rope a half dozen times.
