For the sake of keeping my JT up to date I'd do the update, but IMHO these built in NAV systems are a general fail. They're never worth the cost, updates are slow and out of date when they do arrive and they usually come with some Sirius apendage cost that doesn't die when you do. If I could have avoided it on my new '23 JT I would have.
The nav update is of no consequence in keeping your JT up to date. I bought the update and it was total crap. It was more of a downgrade tHan an upgrade. Data that was available prior to the update was missing or inaccurate. Roads that used to display the speed limit now default to 55. Not good if you are on a back country road doing 55 in a 35…
I ended up having to request a refund - which was granted but a PIA. But could not get downgraded back to the version that worked.
on the plus side - you will save $50, but still be disappointed.
