That’s my question also Viper and sure your thinking this same thing…. since from what I can tell we are having the same “noise” issue

Is buying the tie rod bar and drag link full setup going to fix that…..that’s where I think we are at correct?

They “sound” super familiar. [pun intended] I’m going to dig around in it some more this coming weekend and see what I can find before I start throwing parts at it. At least not quite yet. I’ll keep things updated.

So after some research I checked how tight the castle nut was on my ball joints and they were pretty loose…so i took the cotter pins out and tightened them as tight as i could with a 22mm closed end. It really really improved the noise, its almost completely gone! I have read that from the factory the torque spec isn’t correct and Im sure the heavier wheels I have didn’t help.

So give that a try and I believe it will help your issue a ton! I believe I found the main culprit so let me know if that works for you also!

I do still have a tiny tiny noise once in awhile but tightening those castle nuts made a huge difference!

Now my tie rod bar does wiggle a slight bit just like the video you posted and the rest of the noise I have might be from that but its a ton less like I said….I am looking into that upgrade also as the other have mentioned but 800-1000$ will make me wait just a bit unless I find a deal

I am at 3" lift also . If you want to make a world of a difference this is what I did . I wanted to upgrade the steering linkage but went one step farther . I did Currie's RockJock High steer kit. It raises the axle end of the track bar and both ends of the tie rod by way of new iron knuckles . This is not a draglink flip and only requires 2.5" of lift. its ,tie rod and drag link , knuckles and brackets to raise steering stabilizer and track bar axle mount. It made an incredible difference , now my linkage is at an angle it would be if I only lifted the Jeep a half inch. I thought the jeep drove pretty good before now the steering wheel moves less distance than it did before for the same results. Going around curves are much more precise any steering correction that used to be made while driving on old uneven road surfaces are just about gone and if ya do it is just a slight nudge of the steering wheel .. Like they say you don't know how good, good really can be till ya try. I never thought this jeep drove bad but always thought it could be better. Its not cheap but well worth it . I kept my Core4x4 track bar and later added the Rock Jock drag link. As I could afford it I bought the knuckles then the rest of the parts . It was the best investments I have made to this Jeep and highly reccommend it to any one 2.5" of lift or more . If you are real high lift then I guess a DL flip system would do the trick but us who are not lifted high this is great . I have no affiliation with Currie but have used John's products when ever I could . jl-all-high-steer-knuckle-kits-complete

Something to think about while pondering what to do.... The RJ high steer does for steering what the Control arm Geometry brackets does for suspension. Having both is a win win on the road not to mention all the other benefits of the high steer off road .

Reporting back in on this in case it helps someone in the future. I bought a set of rebuilt Mojave shocks from All Terrain Shocks Solutions. Very good experience with them. Shipped quick, arrived in perfect shape, and really nice units.

In the process of installing the shocks, I took the tires off and checked torque on the tie rod end on the passenger side connection point. The bolt appeared a little under torque, or my ancient torque wrench could be slightly off.

Regardless, after replacing the original shocks with the rebuilt ones and tightening the tie rod the noise is completely gone.

As an aside, I can’t say enough good things about the rebuilt shocks and the improvement in ride. Even my wife commented on how much smoother the ride is now.

All quiet on the Eastern Front, so far. I suspect I’ll return to the issue eventually but at over 60k miles I’m pretty happy with the record so far.
