So recently my wife has come down with some rather troublesome back issues. Riding in my JT seems to be hard on her and her back if we do any distance. So I have contemplated moving back into the Ram 1500. I guess about a year or so ago there were numerous offers to me to sell my JT for more than the MSRP was on it when I bought it. I have a 2020 JT Sport S Max Tow with 7" and Soft Top. I upgraded the wheels to Rubicon wheels and have upgraded the shocks to Fox 2.0 along with 10K Winch, Various additional lights in the bed and front bumper. I understand those changes are only valuable to someone who wants them. I still have all the original parts except the front bumper fog lights.
Just for curiosity, I checked with a few places to see what they would offer me for my JT current with about 33,000 on it. Most I got offered was around $29K which I think is like the bottom end of the KBB value of the truck. Quiet shocking to see if go from 45K to 29K.
I likely will end up just keeping it for now unless something great comes along cause I don't see a win situation for me with what they are charging for trucks new and used vs what they want to give me for my truck. But who knows.
She knows I don't want to give up my JT but I'll do it if it helps her and her back

I found my self in a weird spot a couple months ago and was really looking hard at RAMS. I had the same experience as you in that the trade value was way down, and the price of new/used rams was insane.

Im at 96,000 miles at the moment on the 2020 JT max tow. Ive settled in to the fact that Ill be a longevity test for everyone else lol

It also doesn’t help they are discounting new ones as well. This is SLC, almost $9k discount on a new Rubicon at a Jeep dealer.

Used prices were absolutely insane there for a bit. I used to get a chuckle at what folks were getting offered.

The issue back then though is that you cash in…then what? You get bent over and done dry for your next vehicle. It wasn’t REALLY a better situation unless you were unloading a vehicle and sticking with another that you already had.

Perhaps if you are not hauling a lot or towing look at getting rubicon or overland springs and shocks for the rear , might make the right softer . I went from Mojave springs to Max Tow springs to firm up the rear for towing, ride is firmer but still good. Just saying you got the stiffest springs with highest weight capacity, springs are cheap. Might be the best way to keep your money and your Jeep.

Tons of discussion on this in many threads - the prices have corrected or normalized.
A year or so ago they were stupid hit - just crazy and unreal - IF it had been normal times.
So now things have corrected. It's not that they are too low now - they were too high then.
It's like any market - housing, stock, you name it. Highs under certain conditions, lows under others, and always a correction zone.

I have a bad back, years of labor and mechanic work lifting, leaning, and poor lifting practices. My wife has a spine offset and health problems of her own.
However, she's said multiple times "this thing sure rides really nice". I mean at least 3 times she's commented on how smooth it is.
My 2020 I put Rubicon springs up front and max tow springs in the rear. Mistake I won't do again. Oh, it was ok, but seeing how this 2022 does with the small mods I've made on it, it's a lot smoother riding than the 2020 was.
So, mine is an Overland.
I left the stock rear springs under it and tow with AIR BAGS. So I can handle the load of towing or heavy payloads with the air bags, and drop them back down to 5 or 6 psi when not hauling or towing.
For the front, the added weight of a steel bumper and winch dropped it quite a bit and I raised it back up with dual-rate Synergy springs. They are soft, articulate great, and actually, IMO, give a slightly better ride while supporting the truck better. They are taller to support the truck, NOT stiffer like other springs would be. Some springs give you lift with a higher rate - stiffer springs. Not great, and doesn't help handling.
The synergy springs kept the great ride while raising the truck back up due to the extra length, and many more coils. The dual rate means it will handle the load but not be stiff.

My JT now rides very well, we've taken it to Florida and back (last September) and neither of us tired of the ride. i think it rode better across rough areas than our Grand Cherokees of recent years did. (the WJ was the nicest riding of all Grand Cherokee models, IMO)
I have no trouble driving or riding in that truck with my wife driving.

I think the trade in values have normalized but the new prices and used sale prices have not from what It looks like. I don't know I am fine in the truck but she seems to have a hard time with the seats on her back. We did a trip to Baton Rouge recently which is only 5 hours and she was miserable. But unless I find something in the used or new market that works out then guess it is what it is. I don't mind being in the same boat with note I am paying and mileage on the vehicle in a somewhat of a trade off but other than that can't see it happening

Having traded two Gladiators and bought three in just as many years, I've seen prices go up and down. This past week I sold my 2022 Overland diesel with an iffy HPFP for nearly what I paid and got $12k off a new JTR.

So far, the JTR rides the best and the seats are more comfortable than the previous two. Time will tell, but I think this one will stick around a while as prices aren't coming down any time soon.

Heck If I got an offer for what I paid for it might consider but so far no one is close to that number

I had some Rubicon take off shocks on it but I didn't like the ride with those shocks. I may end up looking at changing springs if nothing works out or maybe maybe the JT pull will be to great (LOL)

@BAT

have you considered calling a couple dealers outside your immediate area? Trade values may be better elsewhere ?‍♂

i assume youve tried the usual already. Carvana / carmax / ect.

Well for myself and many others, turn an overvalued used vehicle (or 2) into a new vehicle at one of the places not trying to gouge for over MSRP. I sold my Kia in early 2021 for about 6k more than it was worth in late 2019. Then rode out life in my commuter civic until I was ready to pull the trigger on a gladiator. By that time my civic, that was in May 2020 worth 1500, was now worth 4k. Bought my gladiator percentages under invoice.

Honestly, it was a great time to buy a vehicle if you knew what you were doing. Used into used was stupid, for all the reasons you mentioned. Used into new over MSRP was a bad idea too. But used into below invoice? Some of us came out on top.

What air bags are you running, and which Synergy springs did you go with? Or do you have a build thread with more info?
