What is that catch piece made from.

That is some fine Kentucky engineering right there!
The pan is a genuine trans drain pan, but it’s designed to go on top of one of those tall drain pans for under lifts. I just set it on a 3 gallon bucket and “secured” it.

With the help of a friend who wanted to see how bad the process is, we did the trans fluid change and pan replacement. We took our time, but I’d say it went great. I need a few new exhaust bolts, but that’s no biggie. After all was said and done, it took about 6 quarts. This was not a flush. Just a pan drop, drain, and refill. The factory gasket was leaking, so did not reuse it. I used a new mopar gasket, which appears to be better designed than the original. Did two rounds of torquing, starting at 6lbs, and moving to 9lbs on the second round. Specs call for 8-10lbs. I’m very happy with the PPE pan. Obviously I’ll need to run it for a while to get temp information, but it’s a very nicely built part in my opinion.

Looks good. Does not seem that hard of a job once you get the first one done.

You going to do another dump and fill to get more of the old fluid out or call it good? What fluid did you put back in?

Like your garage rug. 👍

It would be significantly easier on a lift. When the drain pan is only a few inches under the pan, a second set of hands is really helpful to avoid spills. But all in all, happy I did it. It definitely wasn’t too much to bite off. To answer your question, I haven’t decided. It depends on how it drives I guess. But I may do another dump in a few thousand miles, but without a pan drop. I’ll just use the drain plug I now have. I used mopar fluid. I’m not risking any possibility of incompatible fluid. It holds 9 quarts and three of them are still in there. There’s no way I’m mixing. I don’t care if a vendor like redline claims compatibility. I’m not doing it. But that’s me.

Put on Method MR703 +25mm wheels, Flat Black. Running BFG KO3 285/75/17. Did the tranny oil change (at 75,000 miles) and then replaced the pan with a PPE Pan. Gotta love that it has a magnetic drain plug now……

Nothing wrong with sticking to the OEM fluid. At least you have the drain plug now and it would be a waste to do the pan drop for a filter that does not need to be changed.

You have done more than 90% of most owners would have.

You give me too much credit. I’m learning every day. I just love this stuff.

It's why I leave mine open - you should see what is trapped in these things even in the open and I tend to wash into the back side of the bumper when cleaning the truck.
The sand and silt I've seen when I've pulled the bumper off in the past.........
I sprayed mine clean before I did the red rock rear armor. When i took the supports out of the rear bumper for the install, you should have seen the sand eruption that came out and immediately found my face

Why the gasket? There are gaps and openings everywhere. Plus trapping mud and dirt back there.
That's a question for Utah Design Foundry. The outside edge isn't straight, so it fills in the gaps on that edge for a cleaner look.

Added some Utah Design Foundry cover plates to my steel bumper to keep the gunk out.

Those look good. I hadn’t seen these, so I made my own set after seeing a YT video of how to do it.

Those look better than the ones I've seen in the past. Any chance you could snap a picture directly from the side and maybe from the front quarter when you've got a chance?
Here's from the side.
