Sorry Dan. I know you know. I was letting @TheSolarWizard know that they can't just request badges without being there. I should have just told them, instead of replying to you. Oopsie
I have to assume one could use a GPS spoof app and check in that way, but I wouldn't want to test it.

I certainly wouldn’t encourage that. I’m sure some dishonest people do. I saw one profile on the app that had all 68 badges, but the pictures were all from just a couple trails, and were mislabeled like they were from other trails. I don’t get the desire to get badges that weren’t earned. I’d like to get the opportunity to ask people about the trail and watch them squirm because they were never there.

Some people just like to cheat rather than work for it. Same for other fraud - same class. I don't get it, but there's those who do it. My mother died in 2015, Dad in 2018, but if I did such things, I suspect I'd feel this odd feeling of "displeasure" around me. Dad would be looking for a willow stick up there.

Yeah absolutely. I was just thinking about someone who had been to the trail but never checked in and still wanted to get the badge. May be an option for them. I have no idea if it would work, but reading some of the other posts about people who have all of the badges, all the points etc I bet it's what they did.

I don’t cheat, but I understand people who do for actual gain. With these badges, what are they gaining? For me it’s the memory of the day I was on that trail, and the funny stuff that happened with good friends and family. Who gains anything from a zero value item with no memories?

How does the app work? Does it track you completing it from beginning to end or just the geolocation of checking in onsite?

I believe it is just the checkin on site, I don’t think the app has any way of tracking via GPS.

Just check in. So it’s honor system that you actually attempted the trail.

Stolen valor comes to mind. If people will go to the level of impersonating a decorated combat veteran, produce fraudulent documents to the VA, etc scamming Jeep out of a trail badge is minor in comparison.

Installed the AEV Dualsport 2.5" lift. I got excited and forgot to take measurements beforehand...but I definitely got at least the 2.5" even with: ARB front bumper, Mopar step-assist rock rails, and the Fab Fours Overland Rack (175 pounds by itself and ridiculously heavy). Tires are 285/70/17. Planning to go to 35x11.50's eventually but I need to wear these out first.

Looks good. Installed the same lift about a week ago and have been impressed with it.

I could tell the difference even riding around the yard...with the front track bar still loose lol. I'm a bit obsessive and the axle being very slightly off-center was bothering me....so I have a SteerSmarts Yeti front trackbar arriving today. Caught a deal at Northridge4x4 on one for $195.

It does definitely use gps. If you’re not close enough, it won’t let you check in.

Installed my new corner dash speakers -Infinity Reference REF307F. Huge improvement over the supposedly premium Alpine speakers in my Mojave. Really nicely balanced yet powerful sound for such small speakers and no added amp.

FYI if you paid $99.95 for those, they are now $20 off. They have a 60 day price guarantee and you can call them and get the $20 refunded to you. Ask me how I know. ?
