It was a busy weekend. I replaced the front ball joints with MetalCloak's Baller Ball Joints. They are very nice:

And since replacing ball joints essentially means removing the tie rod and drag link, I figured that the stock ones couldn't go back in; so I upgraded to RPM Steering's 2.5T Aluminum Steering Kit with a Fox ATS 2.0 Steering Stabilizer:

That last pic is a bit wonky but I assure you that that driver's side wheel is not all cattywampus as it looks.

Overall, I am pretty happy with the end result but need to get some miles on her to see how it really feels.

Took glad on Bi annual Moab run “to” add some experience scars and bring home problems to fix. My engine consumed (burned them up)its glow plugs on the way out there. Tacking it up to continued fight over injector failures with the jeeps folks. I had some crazy egt’s pre turbo. Saw 1500deg once during the run out. Pretty sure that’s what ate the plugs. Least they are still warranted. Hopefully get a good tech to help validate the cause. No reason to go out at 74k other than fuel issues and hot exhaust.
Still had a great time. Shot at the top of cliffhanger.

How was the ledge right after the creek crossing? It was nasty and rutted last year and it took a lot to get over. I’d like to do it again now that I’ve increased the lift a little.

Cake walk in the glad. The length and 40’s made quick work of the whole trail. Bout 1.5 hours in and back. I ran to the left side over the three boulders and straddled the v between those and the wall. No point to even try the wall, turtle time. But way easier than my last rig, jk long arm on 37’s.

Been working on the winch bumper and the DRL LEDs for the fender. Bumper is on but I have to make some changes so I don't have any pictures of the finished product. I started on the fenders last night after work. I got hit by some idiot going 60 in a 35 with no lights on at 6:30AM a couple of months ago so that is what initiated the DRLS. It broke one of my brand new wheels and and cracked the front and rear fender flares. Figured if I was going to change the flares I might as well do the lights. Got interrupted by slipping with the knife and cutting myself pretty badly.
Feel like an idiot....

P.S. Don't try to use a dull blade, you might end up in the ER for 4 hours!
Quit trying to show off and finish the dam thing.

I was lower last year, 2” in front, 4.5” in the rear, with 37’s. I didn’t turtle, but too light in the front and digging out the dirt in the rear. I think I’d do better now. Still on 37’s, but 4” in front and 6” in rear. I’m guessing 40’s makes a huge difference on that obstacle.

I went back and looked at the pictures. Maybe my memory is failing. A little turtle was seen. :)
