Replaced the passenger side oil control solenoid seal. I had already done the driver side in August. Also replaced the PCV valve with the new style with the smaller opening. Supposedly it decreases oil consumption. Mine doesn’t consume almost any, but I still like it. No leaks or codes after.

Replaced the passenger front door trim as it had cracked in one spot and the clips weren’t staying engaged anymore. Pretty annoying job. I hate trim stuff. But it’s done and out of the garage.

I have been getting what I think are map updates OTA for the past week and they error out each time. So I said screw their OTA updates and today I went from this Uconnect 5 NAV version:

Interesting that the Uconnect site said my NAV was on the latest version available, before I did this map ugrade. Trust none of what they say and only half of what you see...

It took about 35 minutes to download 17.2G to my desktop hard drive(yes I am stuck on ancient 40 year old buried DSL crap from Windstream). Then it took about 25 minutes to unzip the files. I formatted a 32G USB stick to FAT32. Then it took about 40 minutes to load to the USB stick via a USB 3.0 port (my desktop is 10 years since I built it, so not the fastest or latest, but works reliably).

I started the engine. Then I plugged it into the USB port immediately below the Uconnect 12.3 screen in the 2024 Gladiator Rubicon X. It asked me if I wanted to update and I answered YES. It gave me the standard info what it was going to do. I left the engine running in my driveway and moved it a few feet every 10 minutes so it would not shut down. I don't know if that was necessary or not, better safe than sorry. After 35 minutes, I got a message that said the update was completed. All good as far as NAV goes and I saw some new roads on it.

That said, I still do not have my TrailsOffRoad Adventure guides back after they disappeared over a week ago, along with the Trail Logs app, all part of the two year trial version of Off Road Pages +. I got the Trail logging app back yesterday morning after a full factory reset the morning before. So I am hoping the adventure guides show up. Uconnect support is useless, they have no clue how to get my adventure guides to show up.

I also am aware that my current system version is FCA-MY24.U29.44-PROD. The lastest is FCA-MY24.U33.43-PROD and while it has been rolled out extensively on the Wrangler forum, I still do not have it.

Today I spent about 1 hour and 20 minutes underneath and AT&T cell tower in my vehicle, engine idling, hoping for an OTA update for either my adventure guides, the system build version U33.43, or a successful NAV OTA update. None of these happened.

I have also tried to get the updates via my home WIFI when the vehicle sits in the garage overnight. So far nothing doing that except for an "update failed code:-5" error Friday morning before I did the factory reset.

We will see what happens. Curious what map levels and system build versions are out there for 2024 owners.

EDIT: I give up trying to get rid of the duplicate pics below.

No pictures? No bueno.
part of what went in to the steering box isn’t for sale yet its a cobbled together version of something from another vendor so no pics allowed but im happy to share a finished picture, which unfortunately will look pretty much just like every other hydro boost install, save for the diameter of the steering
Components

I’m not trying to gate keep at all.
this is also the reason I’ve deliberately made some suspension pics fuzzy too. Once announced officially ill show more

Threw together a rear seat delete panel really quick before a last minute trip. Cooler was much more usable but still a pain in the ass. I'll be carpeting the panel and adding an access hatch this weekend. Ordered a Dometic CFX3 45 and a Bluetti AC180 last night that will get installed where the Yeti sits now. That will make this all much more usable.

Cheap propane tank mount in the rear made cooking breakfast on the tailgate way more convenient and no more little propane bottles rattling around.

I farmed out a soft top project to a canvas shop in Denver in June. Finally done, and I couldn’t be happier. It took forever as he’s a one man shop, but I love it. Instead of just a clear window on the original from fas-top, the rear now has three zippered layers. The inside is black fabric for hiding gear when traveling, but opens with a u shaped zipper. The middle layer is screen for the dogs, or if the kids were hiding in there using it as a fort. It also independently zippers open, but the entire panel. The outside is clear plastic that opens and rolls up from the outside to expose the screen. It took several visits and conversations to get the final design, but I think it really improves functionality.

The JT was ceramic coated about 2 months ago - vinyl decals DO NOT stick to ceramic coating. Unfortunately… we didn’t even consider installing the decals before we ceramic coated it. Go figure….

This was a test….. We knew we’d have to polish off the ceramic coating and HOPE we’d get enough off for the decals to stick. SUCCESS!!

More decals are in the works (for Izzy 3). Hence..this small test. ☺

My husband used to cut vinyl 25 years ago and he still has graphics from the old days. He’s teaching me how to do it. I’m excited to give Izzy a little personalization!!

new seat covers. had been using some ultra cheap 40 dollar amazon ones since i bought the jeep. i would say these are moderately cheap at 200 for the set and fit pretty well. color in the pics isn't great but the red is actually a nice match for the rubicon, not quite the ruby red of the dash but close.
