Thanks to Kennyglm who set me up with a steel Mopar performance mid width bumper, my just swap the bumper turned into another remove everything change the plate out, modify the front receiver hitch thing. Painted parts that were modified late last night finishing today. Love it will be better in the woods with the tight turns. Only weighs 14 pounds more than my modified stock bumper. Nice job Dan, I agree the one piece will make it stronger and the steel interior skeleton brace, should make it more difficult for you to bend. You must be getting nuts to drive your Jeep , been being refurbed for a while now…..Jack
Thanks. It’s driving me crazy. But I can’t drive it without the gas tank skid, which hasn’t gotten here yet. Rebuilt bump stops are supposed to show up tomorrow. I’ve got a few days work to finish the front end. I need to rebuild one more RCV, reassemble the passenger side ball joints, etc. but I think it’ll be on its wheels before the skid arrives.

Looks fantastic. I still love that winch setup. So nice to have it hidden like that, and still have access to the line.

Worked on my reinforcement and refurbish of my engine/tranny skid. The steel reinforcement is from next venture. But I went further and cut out my own one piece UHMW, instead of the two piece design. I think it makes it stronger at the bend this way. Still 8 more holes to drill and that many bolts. Then I’ll do final trimming of the UHMW. And two brackets need paint. But it’s getting close to being able to test fit.

Finished this earlier today. Haven’t test fitted it yet though.

For the cowl vent, I scrubbed it really good with dish soap and a scrub brush. The cowl vent is textured so the surface has tiny pits. Once it dried, I wiped it down with acetone (it didn't melt the plastic). The plastic must be polyethelene or polypropolene. Then, I sprayed a couple light coats of primer (Rustoleum). I sprayed several light coats of base color, followed by several light coats of clear coat. The first couple coats of clear has to be very light. Otherwise, a single heavy coat from the clear will make the base coat run.

For other plastic parts, like the mirror bolt covers, I had to trim the mold flash and lightly sand sharp edges before wiping down with acetone. Again, the acetone didn't melt the plastic. Then, I did the same routine of several base coat followed by several light coats of clear.

I also did the door latch covers.

Coincidentally, your scrubbing of the trim is what allows the products to work. I didn’t get anything to last on my cowl trim till I scrubbed it. Nice job regardless.

Hand washed and spray waxed the Jeep, and spending a hot South Texas evening on the patio around the fire pit.

I just noticed that it doesn’t have a fairlead. Wouldn’t that be hard on winch line.
Actually two …one came with my winch on the inside and a low key Factor 55 narrow drum one on outside, no way the line will ever run over a sharp edge or bumper edge. Finished it , need to spool the line back on and make a UHMW cover to hide and protect winch….Jack

Also how do engage the spool control lever?
I loosened the clutch mechanism and rotated it so clutch lever is on back easily reached just in front of grill, I’ll post a picture when done. I will have a cover over winch but will still be able to use clutch lever and will be able to remove cover if needed to check line wraps. I don’t use my winch very often, and find it better to not just get stuckšŸ˜Žā€¦ā€¦Jack
