I specifically bought the Mojave to go fast off road. I've had so many Jeeps that I didn't use as it was intended so I'm going to enjoy the shit out of this truck. The Mojave drives better the faster you go. I hate driving the slow technical trails. Hopefully I can limit the damage along the way. The plan is to spend more time in the sand. On a positive note, I had a decent sized rock hit my windshield. It was so loud that I jumped out of my seat. Not a crack or even a single chip out of my windshield.
I applied clear “tape” to my JKU rear fenders to protect against rock damage. It wasn’t visible unless you really looked. It is still there since 2017…..

It’s not about suspension travel….. It’s all about knowing your center of gravity.
And as mentioned, the line you take and how you turn those wheels.

I’d tend to believe that uptravel is more critical in a roll situation because all the weight and the body weight follows (no body roll or flex). IFS rigs don’t have much travel to begin with and even less up travel.

Back in my older days… IFS rigs could only lift 2-3” on the stock setup (via coils or spacers). Once you reached 4+” of lift…the lifts (off the shelf lift kits) got more complicated, more expensive, more brackery & setup, etc. Even after adding all that extra bracketry…(to your stock A-arms, etc), the suspension travel wasn’t any better. The only benefit was being able to fit bigger tires.
Yes, but so many drive instead of plan.

I'm not a full time mechanic. Im just a simple hobbyist with 30yrs of experience wrenching/modifying/maintaining all of my vehicles that I have ever owned. I've never had an issue with off-brand tools. I have had Craftsmen (from 30yrs ago) ratchets and a trolley jack break on me shortly after buying them. I've had 2nd hand SnapOn sockets and universals break. So far, I haven't had any Pittsburgh stuff break, not to say that it won't though.
I'd rather spend my money on parts versus high end brand name tools like SnapOn or MatCo
I stopped buying craftsman when I saw sockets and wrenches stretch around bolts and slip. Then had to try to get rounded off bolts and nuts loose. I have only a few Snap On tools as I too feel they are overpriced (especially since some are made in China). I have a lot of SK and Bonney tools, you know old school tools.

Installed the front JC handles, which had been stored in the under-seat compartment, still wrapped in plastic, unused.

Wow where did you get JC handles again .
When I looked under my seat all I could find was HS handles.🤭

How ya like that Frigerator and what size is it
It's a 45 QT Setpower. It has been more than I could ask for since I paid $350 for it. Its had the shit beat out of it and now tons of dust. Still working. Having it in the back of the bed makes it work really hard in summer.

More pictures of the recovery. Unless you've been to Poughkeepsie Gulch, it's hard to get a feel for the incline. We were the last ones in the area for the day 230p-3pm, he had professional recovery help coming, but hours away, so he was lucky we were there to assist with some daylight left. @WILDHOBO was the rear anchor, and @darksidedesign on the front. The bronco owner had his winch set to my tow strap used as a tree strap anchor 30' up the hill to pull him upright, while everyone else kept things tight with their winches. Without the rear anchor, he would have rolled forward without control.
That's on the bypass right? If so that is indeed super steep.

Never had that issue - of course if it's tough, I use only 6 point sockets. 12 point are for tight areas, 6 point for tight or worn nuts and bolts.

For wrenches, if it is loose, I turn it in and get new.

I've doubled-up Craftsman wrenches and not broken one yet. (Jeep bolts and nuts)
Are there "better" - yeah. Tools that work are critical in a production shop where you lose not just time, but money with a bad tool.

SnapOn - fine, but I pick and choose there because of price.

I started off with Craftsman. Once I started to spin wrenches for money. I started to buy Snap-On.

Only broke one Craftsman tool. A new 3/8" drive ratchet back around 1994. Stripped it when working on disk brakes.

Took it back to Sears and they tried to replace it with a beat up rebuilt one until I pitched a fit and made sure to point out the condition of the one that had been broken. I left the store with a brand new 3/8" ratchet....
