Swapped the oil filter housin
Found my missing quart of oil in the valley of the V in my 3.6L. Looks like it’s time for a new oil filter housing. Also discovered dying alternator pulley.

Swapped the Oil Filter Housing / Cooler. It was really a bear of a job and probably worth paying someone to do it to be honest. There are so many hoses, connectors, and brackets that are fiddly to remove to get to it. All in all, it went back together OK and there's no obvious leaks. But if I have to do this again, it's probably going to a mechanic. I'm a decently skilled driveway mechanic and probably one of the youngest owners on the forum, and it took me ~10hrs total from hood open to clean up and I'm covered in cuts and bruises. Easily worth $1500 to avoid.

Failure mode is o-ring blow out, as expected.

Remember how everyone asks, "Where were you when the Challenger exploded ?" "Where were you when the Towers fell ?". Well, I got one to add, "Where were you when Mud Pie lost his mind ?"

I continued with, what I'm now calling, "The Undercarriage Show and Shine Project". I didn't get much done, maybe one hours worth (have to let the wax site for 15 minutes, I did it in sections), because I remembered I had legit stuff to do. Unfortunately, the quick snaps aren't showing off the shine I attained. I also did the rear passenger bed frame and shock, it looks like the other side I posted. I'll admit, I like doing this. Weird as all get-out, yep, but I'm enjoying it. Came in, showered, now drinking a Pepsi.

When did I realize I have issues ? While I was laying underneath waiting for the wax to set, having a vape, I saw the exposed bolts and thought, "Y'know, I could hit them with my cordless Dremel and wire wheel, clean them up then coat them in clear nail polish.". Right then and there I said, "Whadehell is wrong with you ?!?! No !! Stop !!".

Hello, my name is Mud Pie and I have a problem...

p.s. My wife asked me why I'm doing this, I said it'll get better gas mileage, less drag. She goes, "Really ?". I just smiled. We've been married 35 years, together 38, you'd think she'd know by now...

Oh yeah, I also did this today....

I didn't like the gold BigLion.x logo on my off-road lights. 1) it was ugly. 2) Didn't want to advertise how cheap I am, buying Chinese knock-offs. Full disclosure.

I was going to put KC Hi-Lite decals on them, but that too much cheating and lying, even for me. lol.

I decided to go retro, I was going to get classic yellow, but they also had these and they matched up to my paint pretty close.

I'm secure in my manhood, hell, I wear kilts, I'm a former Marine that knows 10 ways to kill a man with my thumb. I don't need my vehicle to speak for me. Hopefully I can park this little bit of whimsy next to a Jeep sporting that stupid Angry Birds grill. I actually said to a driver with an Angry Birds grill, "Awwww, why is your Jeep so mad ? That's not good. Aww, make him happy !!" and I chuckled. I got a different kind of look from that driver....

Now, if you're sporting an Angry Birds grill, good on ya, Your Jeep, Your Rules. No hate. Just as much for you to like them, I can unlike them.... 'Merica.

Weather was nice so took the chance to open the garage door and install the drawer.

I've been working on building out a set of tools for keeping in the Jeep so I don't need to repackage tools every time I get ready for a trip. Just hop in the Jeep and go.

Wrenches were on sale a week ago. This weekend Icon sockets and socket sets are 35% off in store, so both the 3/8 and 1/4 no skip sets were $182 total this morning. Not bad!

And got the rear axle back in. I swapped shifts so I work third tonight, trying to decide if I want to keep working and move to the front axle now or go take a nap and tackle it tomorrow.

Oh, and the front antirock showed up today

I'm considering ordering a four white light set, but using them other than rock lights. My thought is to wire them up to my interior lights (if possible) and mount one light behind each step on my rock rails. Hit the unlock button, the steps light up. That'll make it easier for my wife and Mother in Law to see the steps in the dark.
I did pretty much the same thing and it works great. Can actually use the bed light switch that's part of the headlight switch to light them up while driving if you want, even though I haven't had a need for that. I used a strong magnet attached to the lights so I could stick them to the frame where I wanted them with no drilling. Worked great.

Did you use those “earth magnet” for these and,if they are LED, has it caused any issues? Good idea on using the bed light to activate. May look into that.

I used magnets like these. Attached them to the rock lights. Only issue was if you tighten them too tight, it will crack the magnet insert. They have been attached for about a year and a half with no issues. Mine were 110lb but no longer available. Also the lights I used were Rough Country. They are attached to the bed light wiring.

How did you splice them into the cargo lights ? Did you find a place to tap in or did you snip the wire ? I'm really against snipping any OEM wiring harness....
