I’ve done it like that, but it’s easier to manipulate them into the knuckle without the unit bearing attached. I’ve done it a few times and have rebuilt mine. No failure whatsoever. Proactive after lots of miles. They’re messy, but so strong and smooth. I got better at it the second time.
Just hate removing that axle nut if I don't have to, ya know? But you're right about that.

I didn’t know until I knew. I removed them the first time together with the unit bearings. So awkward and difficult to be careful with the axles. Regarding the boot, I leave it loose on the shaft in the knuckle until the axle nut is on, but I don’t worry about torque. And the unit bearing bolts threaded at least a half inch or so. I stopped fighting with the axle nut like I used it over and over. Now I loosen it with the wheels on the ground. And torque it down the same way. I’m just a tinkerer. Not an expert. But it’s worked for me. Error and trial. Error and trial.

I'm a bit more with it this morning, had some sleep, took a day off from working on it.

I've got all day to work on it today, until another midnight shift tonight, so hopefully all buttoned up today. A lot of fiddling and adjusting to do, so who knows.

They’re new technology to me. I saw em in the Jeep when I bought it and was intrigued by the design. In my mind it was a heck of a lot better than the “C” setup. Only after I looked into them and did some research did I realize what was on there. I thought it was what Jeep was doing now. I shoulda known better.:CWL: So far all I’ve done to them was load them up with grease. They were pretty dry at time of purchase and it took me a minute to figure out the grease stuff for em. They’re good now though! I like em.

I’ve had my share and more of those nights. Hope you get it done. Take your time if you don’t have a deadline.

They’re absolutely killer. As long as you grease them, they’ll last forever. I had some jerk yellow at me on a trail recently. “Stop! You’re definitely going to snap a u joint!” My response: I don’t have those. What I wanted to say was much different in my mind.

And anyone that’s wheeled with me in the last few years knows it anyway.

Yeah I didn't have the hight until last of teen year or so but was in sz 10.5 EW footwear, 213 5'6" at 17-18. I guess there was something in that IL. soil or water. 🤔 Family got the shock from not seeing me really for 4 years the 6'2" 197-203 came home on leave. Maybe the Army was feeding us HGH back then. :giggle:

At least a 4 post will work, a few places have problems lifting my JT or Wrangler on 2 post lift. Skid plates and vehicle center of gravity.
I spent 4 hours in urgent care yesterday - 4 days of migraine and so damned dizzy twice I had to go to the floor at home to keep from literally falling. Just bending over made the headache worse and made the room spin. No bending, stooping, leaning over, getting up and down makes me sick. I wasn't even able to spend more than a couple of minutes putting things back in and on my wife's new JLU. (and I discovered Total Truck that did the power step move from the 23 to the 26 screwed up more than expected and I'm thinking they took off those pieces bolted to the frame to prevent the front wheels from rolling under and into the cabin floor area.)
Why can't anyone do anything right?

Will be quite a while before I can actually do anything to the Jeeps the way I'm feeling - and at least 4 more weeks of caring for my wife with her shoulder replacement (for those who don't know, never met her - she only has one good arm, so I do everything, and I mean everything, for her for a while)

Parts unbolted from the frame after it was undercoated - what did they leave off?
Interior panels loose and off, wire terminal bent up at weird angle.

Man.....you got a run of bad luck lately. Hoping your condition improves. Had a neighbor who had vertigo. When it hit him. He would be down for days.

My brother had a shoulder replacement last summer. He's 80 yrs old. Didn't slow him down at all. Hopeful your wifey has great results like my brother.

Yeah, they moved a few things from the frame. Wonder if they had to remove the brackets to install the steps, and never told you.

I asked on the Wrangler side - and that's it exactly. Those pieces apparently are huge on the JLU - going back along the frame and covering a lot of space.

My wife only has her left arm- her right is all but useless from birth.

A lot of being pissed off and throwing shit. I probably just shouldn't work on things after being up all night. Especially after a shitty ass night where I just dealt with thunderstorms and keeping pilots from killing themselves all night. If I wasn't so cheap I'd let somebody else do this stuff but I don't trust other people either.

At least I got the front axle back under it, new antirock in, everything loose except for the hydro ram. I need to check clearance with the truss and the ecodiesel oil pan. Looks tight but I think it'll work. What I'm not confident will work is when I have the engine skid in there.

Ran it up to full bump, opted to move it a bit driver for better clearance to the track bar brace when tucked. Got the coils in, got everything torqued, modified the ABS brackets/bales for the gussets, greased everything, adjusted the antirock, bolted up the driveshafts, clearanced the engine skid plate to the oil pan, swapped out the front diff cover for a new one, filled up the diffs, programmed the PCM for 4.88s and no sway bar disconnect, pressure washed the mud out of the wheels, rolled her out and filled up the tires.

Went for a drive.

Rides nice but the wheel is about 45° off so the TCS is freaking out, but I'll address that tomorrow. Time for work

So sorry you’re having a really rough stretch. And I have zero idea why they’d remove that. The loose body stuff and bent wiring is just angering. I hate laziness and carelessness more than most things. If they didn’t understand the install, just ask a question.
