I parked this filthy ugly thing next to it.
I swear, Jeep got the AUX battery engineers from Polaris after they were finished messing up their fuel pump location.

PXL_20230816_155826861.jpg
Where the battery is located in my 850 Polaris is a Royale PTA. I'm thinking the electrical engineer works part time at Jeep and part time at Polaris. :like: At least when I need to swap it out in my JT I'll be throughly experienced in it.
Hmmm my old 4wheeler is waiting for me to find out what is rattling. If it's what I think it is, it's really going to be bad.... only 2 dealership's has the parts left. :headbang: it's a 08 model and the battery is easy to swap out.... ?

Back on thread: change oil n filter after trip.. as of yesterday I unlocked doors and relocked doors over wise. :giggle:

Did the EPIC Kraken setup on my ARB Dual. Very nice.

I'm not an electrical person so I dreaded every minute of the de-pinning, stripping and crimping process. :D

Some thoughts:
  • Their videos make it look easy of course and it mostly is. But getting under/behind the inner fender liner without it being taken off was a pain in the ass for me. I couldn't get at the first zip-tie location but managed all the rest for the ARB compressor down the wheel well.
  • Cross the ARB wiring after the wheel well to the inside/top of the frame as the instructions say. At this point you have a choice. Use the passenger footwell drain plug, I do not recommend this even though it's slightly easier. I have the Mopar all-weather liners so didn't want to mess with them and modify the recessed drain plug that inserts into that space. Or you can go to the drain plug that's under the passenger seat. (I recommend this). I freaked out at this point briefly because from underneath the gas tank skid plate blocks this drain plug access! Calm down and think for a moment. I shined a light down through the drain plug in the cab to see where it was from underneath and along the outside of the frame. Once spotted I realized I could use a wire hanger I had laying around for such jobs to tape up the wiring and get it into that drain plug. If you've run the wiring correctly down the inner fender and along the inside top of the frame, following a factory harness, you have about maybe 4" of the ARB wiring coming up into the cab. It's tight.
  • They say you can just cut a 1/2" hole in the drain plug and run the wiring through that into the cab. My monkey brain couldn't' make that work as it seemed too small a hole for the large amount of wire and sheath. I ended up just snipping the drain plug at the end I had already cut the hole into and that allowed it all to get through and still keep the drain plug edges snapped into the tub.
  • Getting the Maxi fuses out of their holders during the install and back in when done was crazy. I had to use pliers and whatever else I could to get that done. Their video conveniently edits that part out after they show him try for a few seconds to do it by hand. LOL!
  • If you want to air up other things with this system, or use a blow gun, you will have to make your own airline and fittings to do that. A quick connect fitting to airline to a standard chuck or whatever you need. The ends of the Kraken lines are just bore lock fitting for tire valve stems.
  • They provide the airline plugs so if you just wanted to help out a friend after a run on one side of your vehicle you can block the line on the opposite side from where they are and fill two of their tires at once. Heck you could help fill two rigs, have them pull up on each side of you and fill two of their tires each at the same time. "Two rigs at the same time..." - Lawrence
So far, I really enjoy it and I can stop carrying around the ARB single toolbox version I have to fill 37s.

Most of the guys seem to just connect it in the center console usb and 3m it to the side of the storage box. Totally out of sight and might save you some time trying to hide it and free up that dash usb.
I had it there for a while, didn't like it. Was concerned with stuff banging into it. I hide it behind the dash, so the USB port it's plugged into now will be free.
I use this guide:
(28) Jeep JL Car Play Project. | Jeep Wrangler Forums (JL / JLU) -- Rubicon, 4xe, 392, Sahara, Sport - JLwranglerforums.com
This is an idea of what I saw someone do on Youtube. The Youtube guy put it on the side with 3M right near the usb. Just a thought to save you some work! lol

Might not be that bad with a very short L shaped USB cable. Could Velcro it right next to the USB port. I don't use that port for anything else, but I'd like to keep it available just in case.
Thank you for trying to save me some work though :) always appreciate that!
My solve for using that USB port with a "permanent" cable plugged in was to make a little cardboard "box" that sits over top of the plug/outlet and then taped it into place. I used the black gorilla tape so it just blends in with the interior of the console.

Yeah. This one's an 07 and it's super easy to swap the battery.
This thing owes me nothing. It's my golf cart, my tractor, my log skidder, and my zero turn stuck in the mud recovery vehicle.
And my hunting rig sometimes.
The headlights are spray foamed in place and I'm on my fourth winch line.

They arrived today. Surprise - wasn't supposed to be until tomorrow, too late for my trip.
Spent almost as much time getting stands, jack, sockets and wrenches to the truck as I did doing the swap.

I figured since I'll be towing in the next couple of days I might as well take the 30 minutes to install them.

Once I had the stock shocks off. I stood them up on the floor between my feet and compressed each one and let it expand again.
The left rear felt like it was gurgling and felt easier to push for the first inch, then went down and back up fairly easily.
The right rear compressed fairly easily but rose up more slowly.
They did not act the same.
Man, do I feel the cracks in the blacktop roads around us now.
But when I exit the garage and the rear tires drop off that inch or so ledge (that's there to prevent rain washing in since our driveway is a hill aimed at the garage) it doesn't bounce one bit - it just drops. Before it would drop and bounce a time or two when exiting. That bounce is gone. It's just a very firm drop off the ledge.

These are definitely an inch or so longer than stock.

Most important mod yet. I’ve already noticed better gas mileage and more power. Women want me and men want to be me.

It’s also multifunctional. In addition to ducks, passersby’s can place Red Bull cans, money, small baggies of marijuana (legal in VA), found teeth, Lego Minifigures, lit cigarettes, parking citations and cat turds on this little shelf. It’s made of solid Inconel 718, painted with vantablack. The lettering and rings are actually reservoirs of zinc oxide you can use as sunscreen. It only cost $800.

Installed my bulletpoint rubigrid, hid my AAWireless device behind the dash, and routed power from the 12v accessory port to above the rubigrid.
Works perfectly, except I used double sided tape to hold the USB ports temporarily while I lined everything up and then forgot to bolt it down...so I'm sure I'll be doing that over again soon.

I never thought I’d be the guy with a bunch of window stickers, but here we are.

So what do you do with your forum name when you turn 60 and are on your 4th Gladdy?

Anyway, most people will be looking at the Jeep, not the stickers.

Haha, good question! I didn’t think that name through when I made it, but I can’t change it now or I’ll lose the forum street cred!

And I. Just. Keep. Collecting. Stickers., it may be an addiction at this point.

Just got back from having 98% heat shield ceramic tint put on all the windows. I am using reverse psychology and taking one for the team. If this goes the way things normally work, now that I have the ceramic tint the heat wave and drought we've been suffering through will break and temps will drop down into the 70's & 80's.

I went with 5% transmittal on the back since you can have them blacked out. I went with 30% on the driver's and front passenger door and clear on the windshield. After trying to tint a few vehicles back in the day, I will always pay somebody else to do it because I can really screw window film up in a hurry.
